Some ideas of what’s on from Cardiff to Pembrokeshire and West Wales over the August Bank Holiday weekend. Wales Cottage Holidays visitors to Carmarthen and Llandovery can witness a daring adaptation of the Bram Stoker classic Dracula, presented by Heartbreak Theatre at Aberglasney Gardens on 25 August. Cardigan and North Pembrokeshire visitors will enjoy Cardigan Quays Festival on 24 August, an annual festival celebrating the town’s rich cultural and maritime heritage. You’ll even see mermaids rowing around Cardigan Island! Garden lovers in New Quay and Lampeter are spoilt for choice on 25 August, with an Open Garden day at Pantyfod near Llanddewi Brefi or Bountiful Butterflies at Cae Hir Gardens. Aberaeron Bank Holiday Carnival is on 26 August, with jazz from the Adamant Jazz band and a parade starting on the harbour. In Pembrokeshire, AberJazz is a jazz, blues and new music festival with events taking place in and around Fishguard over the weekend from 22 to 26 August.
Among many events near Cardiff and Swansea enjoy Medieval Fun Week at Gower Heritage Centre from 24 August and Cardiff Harbour Festival from 23rd to 26th. You’ll find Romans in Residence at the National Roman Legion Museum near Newport and a weekend of challenges in Death or Glory with the gladiators.
