The Royal Welsh Showground at Builth Wells hosts a very busy calendar of events for animal and country lovers throughout the year in addition to its main event, the Royal Welsh Show, which takes place in the third week of July. This autumn sees a display and sale of Welsh Mountain Ponies on 27 to 29 September and 18 to 20 October, and the Red Dragon Ride Festival of Endurance takes place from 4 to 6 October. From 11 to 13 October the South Wales Kennel Club holds its Championship Dog Show at the Showground. The Welsh Federation Poultry Show takes place on 19 October and the Welsh National Foal Show on the 27th. The big event for this time of year is the Royal Welsh Agricultural Winter Fair, which is held on 2 and 3 December. One of the finest prime stock shows in Europe, the Winter Fair also boasts 300 trade stands, including Welsh produce and handicraft, and is a big attraction for shoppers looking for Christmas presents!
