Treat yourself to a stay in a traditional Welsh cottage or a spacious, characterful barn conversion. Enjoy the feeling of being surrounded by the history to be found in the villages, towns and ancient landscape of Wales! Wales Holidays still has an excellent selection of cottages and farmhouses with plenty of character available over the next few weeks. Here are a few examples of characterful properties to consider.

Within walking distance of the sea and shingle cove the cottage near St David’s for a couple, is one of a pair of C18th stone cottages with a very traditional feel. Or how about the 4* cottage near Mold which is part of a very attractive barn conversion. Well furnished with an airy feel, an open plan living room and pleasant rural views near the Loggerheads Country Park. For 5 people, this former toll house retains some original features including beams, latched doors and a Victorian fireplace in the cosy lounge. This cottage at Dolgellau is an excellent location for both market town amenities and access to Southern Snowdonia.

The 4* cottage near Welshpool for 6 features stone walls, oak beams and has beautiful wooden floors. In the owner’s grounds, surrounded by attractive countryside and just 1 mile from the market town. Sleeping 7, the listed Georgian cottage at Manorbier has been in the owner’s family for generations. Very homely and with quirky features, the house in this popular Pembrokeshire village is just a 5 minute walk from Manorbier Castle and only ½ mile from the sandy beach. Again for a larger family, the accommodation for 8 in the secluded, spacious stone farmhouse near Presteigne includes 2 sitting rooms, 4 bedrooms and an enclosed garden. An ideal base for exploring Mid Wales and the Borders.
