Nearly 40 Blue Flag Beaches in Wales for cottage visitors in 2013

Blue Flag status has been awarded to 39 beaches in Wales for 2013. The coveted Blue Flag is awarded only to the very best beaches in Wales and venues are recognised for their environmentally sustainable management, cleanliness, and excellent facilities and for achieving a high standard of water quality.
Pembrokeshire once again tops the list with 12 Blue Flags awarded including Poppit Sands, Newgale and Broad Haven North. Port Eynon Bay is one of the Blue Flag Beaches on the Gower and Pembrey in Carmarthenshire is also on the list. In the Cardigan area, Aberporth beach will be flying the Flag as will be Llangrannog, Tresaith and Harbour Beach in the New Quay area; near Aberystwyth, Borth has also been awarded a Blue Flag for 2013. n the North Cambrian coast, Barmouth and Tywyn both feature in the awards and Beaches in North Wales include Abersoch and Pwllheli on the Lleyn together with Dinas Dinlle. Abergele and Prestatyn Central on the North-east Wales coast have a Blue Flag for 2013 and there are six beaches on Anglesey – the list for the island includes Benlech and Llanddwyn.
