Royal Welsh Show for holiday visitors to Mid Wales, Aberystwyth and Brecon Beacons
Stay in Wales Holidays cottages in Welshpool and Mid Wales, Carmarthenshire and West Wales and look forward to the prestigious Royal Welsh Show, which this year runs from Monday 22 to Thursday 25 July.
The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society was formed in 1904 and the first show was held in Aberystwyth in the same year. The Society has come a long way since those early days and the Royal Welsh Show has become an important event in the Welsh calendar, supported by about 18,000 staunch members and attracting some 230,000 people over the course of the four days.
This success has allowed for the extensive development of the permanent showground at Builth Wells, first used in 1963. It’s an ideal central location close to Hay-on-Wye and the Black Mountains and the beautiful heart of Wales to stage the Royal Welsh’s own three events – the Spring Festival in May, the Show in the summer and the Winter Fair on 2 and 3 December.
There are many exhibitions and pavilions and the showground also hosts a very busy calendar of other activities as diverse as the Beekeepers Convention, the Severn Valley National Rally, the Welsh Kennel Club Dog Show and the International Antiques & Collectors Fair.
