Special Events on the Talyllyn, Llangollen, Llanberis Lake, Corris, Welshpool & Llanfair, Pontypool and Blaenavon and the Gwili Railway in June and July

A number of our famous steam railways in Wales will be holding special events during the next couple of months for visitors staying in Wales Holidays self-catering cottages and farmhouses.

For the Dolgellau and the North Cambrian coast area, special events on the Talyllyn Railway in June include a 60th Anniversary of the Coronation Day Train, Victorian Trains on Thursdays in June and July and Father’s Day trains on 16 June.

Visitors to the Llangollen area can enjoy a “Day out with Thomas” on 1 and 2 June, Real Ale, the Railway’s Heritage Railcar Gala on 22 and 23 June, the Llangollen Railway Classic Transport Weekend on Saturday and Sunday 6 & 7 July and a 1960s Weekend takes 27 and 28 July.

In the North Wales area, Additional trains will be in operation on Saturday and Sunday 6 & 7 July for the Llanberis Lake Railway Steam Gala 2013. This year the Gala will see a visit of the National Trust's "Hugh Napier" and "Lilla" from the Ffestiniog Railway.

The Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway will be running special Vintage Trains on 23 and 24 June and again on 20 and 21 July and in the Machynlleth area, Fathers travel free on Sunday 16 June on the Corris Railway as long as they have at least one child, of whatever age, in tow!

For visitors to the Abergavenny area, Saturday and Sunday 6 & 7 July will be a War Time Weekend on the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway with Military displays and vehicles, rides on a 1940’s steam train and even a wartime ration of sweets for children travelling on the train.

Near Carmarthen, take a trip back to the 1940's on the Gwili Railway on Saturday and Sunday 8 & 9 June when the home guard, ration inspired food, American GIs and a genuine War Department Engine all come together for a nostalgic day out.
