Wales Holidays visitors to the Aberystwyth region and around New Quay and Lampeter should pay a visit to Strata Florida Abbey near Pontrhydfendigaid. This beautiful and culturally important heritage site, on the edge of the Cambrian Mountains, has a visitor centre and interactive exhibition and garden. A high quality attraction has been developed here, reflecting the significance of the Abbey and introducing visitors to some of the colourful events which shaped this now tranquil location.

Strata Florida, a Cistercian Monastery founded in 1164 but falling into ruin after the dissolution of the monasteries in the mid C16th, has huge significance for Welsh literature and the arts. It holds a close association with the medieval Welsh princes of Deheubarth, some of whom are actually buried at the site. The exhibition in the visitor centre tells the story of the Abbey and its people in an exciting and innovative way, with an interactive exhibition and new interpretation panels; other improvements include the conservation of medieval artefacts and the creation of an events area within the historic garden. Wales Holidays has an excellent selection of cottages and farmhouses to let in all areas of Wales.
