You don’t have to be in the middle of nowhere to appreciate the glorious Welsh landscape this autumn. Be close to local amenities while staying in a cottage a stones throw from walks within a National Park! Wales Holidays still has an excellent selection of properties close to villages and towns available over the next few weeks. Here are a few examples of properties to consider a mile or less from the nearest town or village.
Sleeping up to 10, the particularly spacious 4* dormer bungalow near Porthmadog stands in large lawned grounds on the owner’s farm and looks over a small lake.
For a family of up to 7, the detached stone cottage at Dyffryn Ardudwy dates back to the C17th yet still provides light and airy accommodation. Set within the Snowdonia National Park, it is just outside the village and only ¾ mile from the beach.
Recently renovated, the cottage near Newport sleeps up to 6. Located in the Preseli Hills, it is just a 5 minute walk to the pub and small shop and ideally placed for keen walkers looking to explore Pembrokeshire.
In Mid Wales, the traditional 4* cottage near Llanidloes offers beautifully refurbished accommodation within ¾ mile of the market town. With a secluded riverside garden, 600m of fishing on the River Severn and plenty of playing space.
Within walking distance of the town and in an excellent location for touring the Elan Valley with its stunning scenery, the bungalow at Rhayader sleeps 4 people. There is a lock-up shed for bikes and bike hire available near by.
For a couple, the cosy cottage near Machynlleth is on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park, just 4 miles from the historic town and 4 miles from the coast at Aberdyfi.
