Fishing is one of the most popular sporting pastimes in the UK and Wales offers glorious opportunities along the shores, lakes and rivers for people of all ages and levels of ability. Some Wales Holidays self-catering visitors can stay in cottages with fishing on the owner’s land or nearby, where permits and licences can be arranged locally.
In North Wales, see properties with fishing in the Denbigh and Llangollen area, on the Lleyn Peninsula and in Snowdonia near Dolgellau. Mid Wales cottages can be by the broad River Severn near Newtown and Llanidloes, the River Banwy west of Welshpool, the Tanat near Llanfyllin and the Dyfi Valley near Machynlleth.
The Heart of Wales offers fishing near Llandrindod Wells and Builth Wells, while to the west are properties in the Aberystwyth and New Quay areas.
Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire fishing varies from trout fishing alongside the owner’s land to lake and reservoir fishing, while a lovely cottage on the Glamorgan Heritage Coast near Cardiff offers tidal river fishing.
