The presents have been opened and a dent made in the turkey, now do you relax or join those taking the plunge in the annual Tenby Boxing Day Dip! It may be the depths of winter, but since 1970 there has been a swim in the bracing waves off Tenby North beach.
Now this Pembrokeshire event attracts hundreds of participants and even more come along to watch. The theme for this year is ‘Pantomime’ so you can be sure to see plenty of interesting costumes. The event begins at 11am and there is plenty of beach fun to be had by all, concluding in a medal ceremony with a roaring bonfire at its heart. If such a pursuit is a bit extreme, why not just take a drive into the countryside and ramble along deserted footpaths savouring the clean fresh air and with crisp frost underfoot.
In Mid Wales and the Brecon Beacons you can discover roaring waterfalls rushing down the mountain side, breath-taking vistas of sweeping landscapes and then take in a warming beverage in a friendly local inn. In all areas of Wales you can’t walk far without coming across stunning views and both pre-historic and historic sites. Come and see for yourself!
