Overseas visitors cosy up in a Welsh pub or take the train up Snowdon
The most recent study by VisitBritain has shown that heritage features most highly on potential visitors’ wish-lists – and Wales certainly has plenty of that!
Just take a look at some of the castles throughout Wales for a fresh insight. And while a trip to Buckingham Palace ranked as the top choice for visitors from most of Britain’s major inbound markets, countryside-based ‘dream activities’ such as visits to Snowdonia were ranked highly by respondents. Taking the mountain train up Snowdon was a top-rated choice, particularly for older travellers, and you can find out more about the railways of North Wales and nearby Wales Holidays cottages here.
We all know that Wales’s reputation as a haunt for foodies is increasing all the time, but you might not have guessed that eating in a cosy Welsh pub is ranked as the number one activity of things to do in Britain by Swedes – and even the French put it in their top three dream activities! Sampling fish and chips by the seaside was a popular choice for visitors from the States, Canada and Australia. VisitBritain commissioned research into which of a range of ‘only in Britain’ activities people around the world would most like to do if they came here on holiday.
