Snowdonia & Anglesey Events in January
Every Thursday in January, the Bodnant Garden Centre, located next to the National Trust Bodnant Garden in the Conwy Valley, holds Meet The Crafters sessions. These involve a different fascinating artist or craftsperson every week, demonstrating or discussing all aspects of their work. For more art, from the 11 January, the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art is hosting an open exhibition where you can see many different pictures in a wide variety of styles and materials. The Gallery is located in the centre of Conwy just off the High Street behind Plas Mawr.
Get out in the fresh air and enjoy a guided walk around the RSPB Conwy reserve situated on the banks of the Conwy estuary. Family-friendly trails, visitor centre and stunning views make this reserve a great place to visit. Join the knowledgeable volunteer guides for the walks at 11am every Saturday. Again in the Conwy Valley, the National Beekeeping Centre Wales holds some fascinating events. If you have invested in a flat-pack hive to begin your bee-keeping adventure but don’t know where to start, book in for the session on 25 January and receive help and advice on assembly to make sure it’s the best environment for your bees!
On the 18 January the Endurancelife Anglesey Marathon takes place with the start at the inspiring Breakwater Country Park. With 4 routes ranging from 6.5 to 33 miles there is a course for even the most serious of runners. The Canolfan Ucheldre Centre at Holyhead holds events and exhibitions all throughout the year. January highlights include an exhibition starting on the 18th by Calx Creo, a group of artists specialising in contemporary, representational art. On the 25 January there is a Brahms Sonta Concert featuring pianist Peter Hewitt and acclaimed cellist Peter Adams.
