Steam Railways for Easter in Mid Wales

The Easter Bunny will be waving off the trains all day from Tywyn Wharf station on the Talyllyn Railway on the Sunday. A fun day for all the family including an Easter Egg hunt with the winner receiving a special prize! From Sunday 6th onwards, the Talyllyn Railway will be open every day in April. Steam trains will be running every day throughout the Easter holidays with the first train at 10.30. To the north of Tywyn, the Fairbourne Railway will be open every during the Easter holidays from 12th to 27th April with eight daily trains on this little line from Good Friday to Easter Monday.
The Corris Railway will be welcoming passengers again over the Easter weekend with trains running from 11.00 to 16.00 from Good Friday to the Bank Holiday Monday - the Railway is located to the north of Machynlleth.
The Vale of Rheidol Railway will be open every day in April with trains leaving Aberystwyth at 10.30 and 14.00; two additional trains (12.15 & 15.45) on 22nd, 23rd and 24th. The last steam railway owned by British Rail until privatised in 1989, the Vale of Rheidol Railway will be open every day in April with additional narrow gauge steam trains running from Aberystwyth to Devil’s Bridge from the 22nd to the 24th.
On Easter Saturday, Sunday and Monday there will be four daily trains on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway with departures from Llanfair Caereinion and Welshpool Raven Square stations. The Rhiw Valley Light Railway is a short private narrow gauge line situated south-west of Welshpool. It is not open to the public on a daily basis but does have Open Days including Easter Saturday and Sunday with trains running between 12.00 and 17.00 each day.
