Happy New Year and Welcome to 2015!

Written by Ginnie James on

If you aren’t one of those super organised people, that I am very jealous of, and who have the year all sorted already, why not start planning this year’s holiday? Get off to a good start with both a feeling of accomplishment and with something to look forward to! I think we will end up with a family holiday in South Wales this summer. Last September we spent a few hours in Pembrey Country Park, as we were in the area for a wedding, and our little girl just loved the huge sandy beach and clambering over the dunes.

It gave my husband and I a real hankering for revisiting the old haunts of our student days in Carmarthen and we would also love to introduce our daughter to the parts of this coastline we haven’t got to yet, so a little Carmarthenshire or East Pembrokeshire cottage will be just the ticket. They do book up fast though so I had better get my skates on! Unfortunately I can’t enter, but if you are not part of, or related to, our wonderful team here at Wales Cottage Holidays, you can try your luck with the competition we have launched on our Facebook page.

Win an off-season week in a cosy Pembrokeshire cottage perfect for a couple or small family, courtesy of one of our very generous owners. Located just a couple of miles from Little Haven, the stone cottages are set around a courtyard and there is access to 100 acres of land included landscaped lawned areas. Within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and only a 20 minute walk by footpath to the popular beach. Not that there is anything wrong with all the rest of the Welsh coast and it is just as popular! Whether you want a sandy beach on a traditional sea front or isolated rocky coves there are options in the North West and South.

And if you are the sporty type and want to surf, paddle board or even improve on your coasteering technique there’ll be a perfect spot for you. Of course there are many (and I count myself among them) who, while still preferring a fairly active time, would not want to spend their holidays contorting themselves in and out of wetsuits. Why not challenge yourself to take a day out of a relaxing holiday to conquer Cadair Idris or explore the cascades of the forested gorges to be found in the Brecon Beacons from the Waterfall Centre, Pontneddfechan.

Alternatively you might want to just get away from everybody and everything and Wales is great for that too. Come just to enjoy the delicious local foods on offer, ramble through beautiful countryside or to shop in unique craft centres and antique fairs. I know I go on a bit but it is true, Wales really is the most fantastic holiday destination! We are here in the office waiting for your call to find you just the right type of cottage holiday in Wales to suit all your requirements. Go on, give us a ring and see what we can come up with!!
