This coming weekend is a great time for all rally enthusiasts to visit Powys and North East Wales as the Wales Rally GB is here again 12 to 15 November.

The route has now been confirmed and already here in Newtown the signs are up with the routes to the carparks that will be in use and the main street road closure notices. A great buzz of excitement always follows the rally into town and although it does get very loud when drivers are interviewed over loudspeaker right outside our office we do get a great view of all the cars from our balcony!

If you were thinking of taking a last-minute plunge and coming to the area for the rally we do still have a range of accommodation from where you can easily get to some of the different stages along the route.

Derw Lodge (WA345) is a fantastic 5* property for 4 in a secluded location, surrounded by open countryside and overlooking a large natural pond. Just 4 miles from Llanidloes and 12 miles from Newtown it is in a great central position for the days racing on Friday 13 November.

In a rural setting The Annexe (WAE281) this practical and spacious accommodation for two is located on the owner’s smallholding, has excellent walking from the door and is right in the heart of the area for the second day rally action.

Acre Uchaf (WAF167) can provide accommodation for a family of up to 8 and is located just 10 miles from the North Wales Coast. This spacious detached house close to the farm is a great holiday getaway and all the locations on Sunday 15 November racing are within a 45 minute drive or less.

Tickets can be bought from the Wales Rally GB website which include the full 4 day pass, Forest passes which give you access to all the stages on your selected day, or if you just fancy heading to Chirk Castle for the family friendly Rallyfest all day on Saturday 14 November you can book a ticket for that as well.

New to rallying and just want a peek at what it’s all about? The ceremonial start in Llandudno and the regroups in Newtown on the Friday and Llandudno on the Sunday are free of charge, as well as access to the central service park in Deeside throughout the rally and where the ceremonial finish takes place on the Sunday.

Come and join us for an action packed weekend!
