It will soon be February half term and have you thought about how you are going to keep the family entertained. It may not strike you as holiday season, but I think that this is the perfect time to get away with the people you love most and reconnect, particularly if you had a stressful Christmas and a busy January getting back into the routine of normal life!
We have some great properties just right for a family retreat whether you want to be in the heart of things or further out on your own. Each of the following four properties offer fantastic accommodation with that little something extra to make sure your plans don’t have to depend on the weather.
Overlooking Saundersfoot beach, Beachway House is a fabulous property for a large family looking to spend quality time together. February may not be the usual time for a beach holiday but with direct access from the spacious decked area you can make the most of the dry, crisp days and get out in the clean, fresh air. If the weather is not to your taste, cosy up indoors with enjoy the fabulous sea views from the picture windows, or spend time in the sauna while you send the kids to the games room with ping pong, pool, TV and games.
Located in the town of Pembroke and overlooking a park, this elegant Victorian townhouse has plenty of space with big rooms. The grand entrance hall doubles as a games room with table tennis and miniature billiards and the kitchen features an Aga so a big baking session might be in order. Clynderwen House also welcomes pets and the enclosed walled garden has a lovely lawn great for kids and dogs to play. With six bedrooms, 4 bathrooms (2 with Jacuzzi baths) and WiFi it really is the perfect destination for a modern family.
With beautiful garden, hill or farmland views from every room White House Cottage, on the owner’s sheep farm, is a great rural escape in the borderlands of Mid Wales. It’s not hard to get out and about with an easy drive to Hay on Wye, where you can easily spend a day or two lost in all the book and antique shops, or head further into Wales to the picturesque Elan Valley. And if rain does stop play come home to the cosy cottage and take advantage of the games room, with pool table and dart board, overlooking the enclosed garden.
Arthog Hall Farm stands in its own grounds overlooking the Mawddach Estuary and just 2 miles from the coastal town of Fairbourne. The games room/snug has table football, darts, toys and games as well as a TV/DVD in addition to the large Freeview TV/DVD in the main sitting room. There is a small pool table in the garage and secure storage for bikes. The local village has a pony trekking centre and Coed-y-Brenin, for world class mountain biking and a great forest experience in the Snowdonia National Park, is only 12 miles away.
