A one-of-a-kind property with a spacious interior with gorgeous views, this lovely accommodation is a serene and secluded retreat on the edge of Clyro village. Use it as a base for exploring the surrounding wonders of Hay-on-Wye (1.5 miles), the Wye Valley and the expansive Brecon Beacons National Park. The silo has been beautifully converted so you can make the most of your serene surroundings thanks to large windows and a pleasant decked area outside.
The silo offers an eclectic mix of old and new, with its circular wall reminding you of the building’s past. On the ground floor, you’ll have a small but perfectly-formed kitchen complete with a stylish breakfast bar and two stools. Your double bedroom is also located on this level. Head up the curved wooden staircase to the first-floor lounge, which occupies the entire top layer of the building. This round room offers spectacular panoramic views and has a TV for quiet nights in. Outside, a small decked area with a table and two chairs offers the perfect spot for morning coffees as you draw up a plan for the day. You’re also free to explore the grounds of Cwmhir Court, where well-waymarked footpaths are excellent for dog walks and evening strolls.
When it’s time to explore your surroundings, you can head into Hay-on-Wye on foot and wander around the bookshops. You’ll also find a number of independent shops, pubs and eateries, plus a theatre and cinema. Keen to get out into the hills? You could start by heading to the rugged terrain of The Begwns, an upland area managed by the National Trust, or venture into the national park to discover the Hay Bluff and Twmpa (7 miles). Both provide gateways into the Black Mountains. The Wye Valley and historic Offa’s Dyke trail, known for their traffic-free walking paths, also both run through Hay-on-Wye.
