Old Brick House is a substantial property in Bishop's Castle, Shropshire, an attractive border market town particularly popular with walkers and beer lovers; the Kerry Ridgeway, Long Mynd and Wenlock Edge provide miles of footpaths with panoramic views, and at the end of a day's walking, the town itself is a centre for Real Ale pubs and micro-breweries. Old Brick House dates back in part to the 16th century, was originally two separate dwellings but has more recently been a Guest House. It therefore provides comfortable and spacious accommodation for 14 people, in six en suite bedrooms/suites.
On arriving at Old Brick House, you will find parking for approximately six cars, some to the rear and some alongside the property on a gated driveway. The enclosed rear garden is on two levels - ground level patio areas with garden furniture and chimenea, and up a flight of stone steps is a raised lawned area with mature trees and shrubs. The house has two comfortable sitting rooms, one with a woodburning stove, and the other with Freeview TV and DVD player; there is also WiFi, books and games. The dining room has a large table to seat up to 10, with two smaller side tables for additional guests. The fitted kitchen is well equipped with an electric Rangemaster range cooker and additional electric oven/grill, a large fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher, as well as a breakfast table and chairs.
There are seven bedrooms in Old Brick House, all named after trees. Fir is a ground floor bedroom with zip and link beds for a choice of super king or twin beds. The first floor rooms are situated up two separate staircases. To one side of the house is Elm, a king size bedroom, and a family suite comprising of Ash, a zip and link twin or super king size room, and Pine, a twin room, with interconnecting door and shared en suite shower room. The other three bedrooms are situated up a second staircase, in the older part of the house. Oak, Willow and Birch are each furnished with zip and link twin or super king size beds. Please stipulate bed/linen requirements at the time of booking. All bedrooms, except for Pine, have a hairdryer.

The Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre and Stokesay Castle at Craven Arms are 11-12 miles away. The house is in a great location and was spacious and comfortable. Perfect for our party of ten. It's well-equipped and the log fire makes staying here in the autumn a particular pleasure.Mrs Lynne Greenaway - 25th October 2018
Excellent cottage for a large group of walkers with dogs. Well situated in Bishop's Castle.Mrs Margaret Thompson - 4th May 2018
This was an excellent property for our family get-together. It is well-located in the centre of the village with easy access to shops, pubs etc. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped and made catering for our large group easy to manage. Pleasant garden for sitting out and enjoying the sun. Thank you for a lovely week! Ms Diane McKinlay - 23rd April 2018

This was a great place for a family get together, warm and cosy, well equipped and very well situated within the town. We couldn't have chosen a better place.Caroline Cowan - 4th December 2017
Bishops Castle is in an excellent location for walking and access to the Shropshire/Mid-Wales hills and countryside. The town itself is like being back 50 yrs. There are no big supermarkets, but the independent shops and the Spar and Co-op provide all you could need. People are very friendly here and there are lots of interesting tea shops and good pubs to keep you entertained. We particularly liked the Bishops Castle Fields. A lovely open space just a couple of minutes walk from the Old Brick House, which is excellent for dog walking, ball games, etc. It has the best adventure playground we've seen for a long time, plus a really good skate park with serious ramps and obstacles. We also enjoyed our visit to the award winning Kerry Vale vineyard at Pentreheyling. The new café here is very good with quite a varied menu. All built on the site of a Roman fort.Mr Clive Bartley - 16th August 2017
