Tref y Nant is a semi detached cottage, which forms the wing of a delightful, listed farmhouse that dates back to 1742. This cosy Welshpool accommodation enjoys large gardens and glorious views over rolling countryside. Set on a working beef and sheep farm within 2 miles of Powis Castle and the award winning village of Berriew which also has a lovely pub restaurant, Spar and butcher.
The market town of Welshpool (4 miles) offers a wide range of amenities, including shops and supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and pubs. There is also a canal, a steam train, a number of castles and even a small airport nearby if you fancy a flight in a small airpolane or helicopter. The Flash Centre in Welshpool has a large swimming pool with twisting slide, rapids ride, spa pool and is also great for young children with paddling and beach areas.
Enjoy fine walks around the farm and surrounding countryside, including a footpath that leads from the farm to Castle Caereinion. Ride the steam train from Llanfair Caereinion to Welshpool or take the short drive to the stunning Lake Vyrnwy, where you can try your hand at watersports and cycling or enjoy a leisurely walk and good lunch. Among the recommended restaurants within 5 miles of the cottage, you have Horseshoes Inn in Berriew (1.5 miles), Nags Head in Garthmyl (3 miles) and Royal Oak and Cornstore in Welshpool itself (4 miles). Another one not to be missed is Checkers, the Michelin restaurant in the beautiful town of Montgomery (6 miles).
If you’re after castles and culture, Mid Wales has both in spades. Powis Castle, which started life as a medieval fortress, is a must, especially for its beautiful gardens and collection of paintings, sculpture, furniture and tapestries. Dolforwyn Castle, the last castle to be built by Llewelwyn (Prince of Wales) between 1273 and 1277 is also worth a visit, as is the drive to Glansevern Hall Gardens (2.5 miles). Other popular attractions include Llanrhaeadr Waterfall (the tallest in the UK), Portmeirion and the Mountains of Snowdonia, the Centre for Alternative Technology and King Arthur's Labyrinth.
Lovely walk from the farm to Castle Caereinion where you will find a pub after your efforts

Beautiful remote country cottage, the host Jane was lovely and nothing too much trouble, very clean, cake on arrival and small things there which you don’t usually expect but made the weekend great! Definitely would recommend!! Had to change my booking twice, first time was due to family illness and second time was due to snow - each time Best of Wales and the cottage owner were fantastic! Never ever have I been so supported to change a booking, very professional and considerate to each situation! I thank you!!Melissa from Wolverhampton - 11th July 2018
This a very rural cottage, lovely views and lovely people. The hot tub is a very nice thing to have after a long day. The nearest beach is about 1hour 40mins away and they are all lovely beaches so that is the only down side to this lovely cottage but worth a look. Give Wales a chance because it’s one lovely country with excellent beaches and nice people.Peter from West Midlands - 1st July 2018

An amazingly, relaxing few days, thoroughly enjoyable start to finish.
Tips: Relax and enjoy the views from the hot tub.Robert from Tipton - 15th April 2017
Very friendly welcome and really couldn't do enough to help out when needed. Beautiful little cottage. Our daughter loved seeing the animals on the farm. I absolutely loved being in the hot tub with the cold wind swirling around in the evening.. You really cannot beat Powys Castle and its grounds. It's up there with the top visits in the UK. Nice cafe stop as well. The Royal Oak in Welshpool is a fine place to eat and the staff were incredibly friendly, especially since we had a very active 2 year old with us!Dean from Switzerland - 5th February 2016
Accommodation had everything you needed even a hot tub which was great!
Property owners were very helpful with directions and on hand if there were any problems. Welshpool ideal for shopping and well worth a visit are Montgomery and Newtown.Lorraine - 1st November 2015
