Glanrannell Barn combines both Pipistrelle (WAW323 sleeps 4) and Threshing Barn (WAW324 sleeps 4), along with The Old Stable (also sleeping 4 but not available separately). These three charming barn conversions are located just outside the village of Crugybar, with the Bridgend Inn 1.5 miles away. The barns, built in the 17th century, are surrounded by picturesque countryside views and guests have access to an uncultivated meadow, with gazebo, picnic benches and 6.5 acres of space to explore on the owners’ smallholding, which is bounded by the River Annell. This is an ideal location for a peaceful family rural retreat or get together.

Each of the three cottages has the same facilities, but overall are different sizes. The Old Stable is the largest of the three, with enough space for 8-12 guests to dine together; Threshing Barn is the middle cottage, slightly smaller, and Pipistrelle at the far end the smallest of the three. The cottages have underfloor heating downstairs, with rugs over tiled floors, and radiators upstairs, as well as exposed stone walls, beams and other attractive original features. Limited WiFi is available in this rural location – not fast and unsuitable for downloading films, but adequate for emails and general browsing.

The Old Stable has a large open-plan living room with sofas, easy chairs, wood burning stove, FreeSatTV, DVD player, lots of books and CDs, dining table and 8 chairs (with space to add an additional table and 4 chairs). Fitted kitchen area with electric cooker (double oven and ceramic hob), extractor hood, fridge with 3* icebox, microwave, slim dishwasher. Additional freezer space and a washing machine are located in the shared utility room at the end of the row of cottages. There is a ground floor cloakroom with WC and basin.

Upstairs, The Old Stable has two bedrooms. The double bedroom has en suite facilities (part open to and part screened from the bedroom): shower cubicle, WC and basin, shaver point, extractor and heated towel rail. The twin bedroom has bath with shower over and basin, again part open/part screened from the bedroom, but no WC.

Please see WAW323 Pipistrelle and WAW324 Threshing Barn for details of the other two cottages. All have similar facilities, but are slightly different in size.

Outside: a patio area with garden furniture and barbecue to the front of each cottage.

Parking: for four or more cars, if carefully parked, for one group booking Glanrannell Barn together.

Glanrannell Barn is situated between the market towns of Llandovery, Llandeilo and Lampeter (each about 10 miles), with Brechfa Forest, 5 miles, for walking and mountain biking, National Trust’s Dolaucothi Roman Gold Mines, 3 miles. Also within easy driving distance are Aberglasney Gardens, National Botanical Gardens of Wales, the Brecon Beacons to the east and the wonderful beaches and coastline of Cardigan Bay to the west.

Electricity, heating and limited WiFi included; initial basket of logs provided

Bed linen and towels provided

Up to 4 dogs, total for all 3 cottages, welcome at additional charge

Stabling for horses available by prior arrangement

Please note: There is an unfenced river 150 yards from the property

The owners were very friendly and helpful. Our grandchildren loved the fact that there was the huge meadow to play and, like all kids, thoroughly enjoyed the swing over the stream! The countryside around is beautiful and there's lots to do.
