It seems that all the available positive superlatives have been used by previous reviewers to describe this cottage and its environs, and it is indeed certainly worthy of the bestowed adjulations. Our thanks to our hosts for a great welcome, and for their hard work in keeping the cottage, and gardens, at their very best.
Thank you for a lovely cottage. We very much enjoyed our break. The walk up to the source of the River Severn and Wye and around Llyn Clywedog were stunning. Great days out in the sun to Aberdovey, Ynyslas and Aberystwyth. White water rafting at Bala lake was amazing. Thank you, we will be back.
Very many thanks for your brilliant hospitality in this very special home. We have enjoyed walkes, on Glyndwr's way and at Lake Vyrnwy but most of all have relished the solitude around the house. With every thanks
Of all the places we have stayed all over Wales this by far is number one. A wonderful place, inside and out. We feel incredibly sad to be leaving Foel Fach. This is our 4th visit and it feels like home. A 5* cottage in every way. Definitely the best in Wales. We hope to return before too long
Thank you so much for letting us holiday in your beautiful cottage. It has only been 4 nights but feels like a fortnight. We are so relaxed and chilled out ready for the next phase of covid. The cottage is so welcoming and comfortable and lovely and 'cwtchy' when it goes dark. You have thought of everything and all the touches were very thoughtful. We have had some good walks all around the cottage. Thank you for a wonderful few days, we will definitely be back
Thank you so much for everything. We have loved every minute of our stay. It has been absolutely perfect. The cottage is so cosy and comfortable to stay in and all the personal touches made us feel right at home. This stay at Foel Fach has certainly been the highlight of the year. Thank you a million times more! We will definitely be back.
We have really enjoyed our stay. It is a perfect cottage with amazing views. We wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you for the very warm welcome, the cottage was very clean. Beautiful garden, fresh eggs and very comfortable beds. This cottage is perfect to get away from busy life and it is also quiet and magical. All the family really enjoyed the stay and we hope to return again
Foel Fach fulfilled all our expectations and more. We have good views at home but the views from Foel Fach are absolutely stunning. We went to Corris craft centre, the beach at Ynys Las, Aberdyfi and on many good walks. Had a good lunch at Cross Fox's, stunning journey there. Thank you for our "goodies " and our stay. We look forward to staying again.
We've had a wonderful and relaxing week at Foel Fach. The views at the front of the cottage were perhaps the best we've had out of all our Welsh cottage holidays. We enjoyed some nearby walks, including Hafren Forest and the Aberdyfi circular walk . The circular walk from the cottage itself (with instructions provided) was well worth it too. Thank you for providing such a comfortable and well equipped cottage in such a stunning location
Amazing all round experience. A beautiful cottage and splendid views. You have both been brilliant from the moment we booked. We enjoyed the birds and sheep and the Bara Brith. Both kids really took in everything. The best holiday
Had a fanfastic time at Foel Fach. The location is alluring and everything within the house is of a high standard. We visited Dolforwyn Castle, Hafren Forest and the waterfalls at Dylife. We also climbed to the top of Cader Idris, and enjoyed nights in in front of the fire. We truly loved the Welsh touches around the cottage.
This was a perfect spot to come after months being stuck at home. The cottage is lovely, the location and the views are stunning. Our boys loved roaming around exploring everywhere. We also enjoyed getting out and about to Lake Vyrnwy, Hafren Forest and the dunes at Ynyslas. We had a lovely roast dinner at the Riverside in Pennal. Thanks for the helpful advice, as well as the Bara Brith. Just a shame we couldn't chat much in person.
We've thoroughly enjoyed our stay at beautiful Foel Fach. The perfect spot to get away and relax with fabulous views. Thank you for the warm welcome, the spotlessly clean cottage, and the delicious Bara Brith on arrival. Walks around the farm and to Hafren Forest were great. Loved the log fire too.
Thank you so much for having us at your beautiful cottage, Foel Fach. We truly had a wonderful time. The boys loved being amongst so much nature and we were astounded by the gorgeous views that greeted us each morning from the terrace.. Powys is truly home to a little pocket of paradise and we all fell in love with different parts of it. Each of us came away with a treasured memory especially after being cooped up in London for the past 6 months
Thank you for an incredible stay. You did everything possible to make us comfortable and welcome. The views from Foel Fach will stay with us forever. Waking to the chirping of birds and the gentle sounds of the sheep was a delight. It has been a restorative stay. The cottage is impeccably appointed. All needs were fulfilled. Thank you for your generous hospitality.
What an amazing little cottage, fully equipped and loads of personal touches which were so thoughtful. Beautiful, peaceful and exactly what we needed to relax and recharge. Would highly recommend and we would love to come again.
A beautiful cottage with stunning views. We enjoyed watching the sheep roaming in the fields and quiet evenings spent listening to the owls. Certainly the prettiest views in our longish lives (age 74 & 79) that myself and husband have enjoyed. All cottage facilities were all thought out and delightfully quirky. Pure delight. Many Thanks William & Harriet ( Rural Somerset)

The charming market towns of Machynlleth (13 miles), Newtown (16 miles) and Llanidloes (17 miles) offer many unique and independent shops, good country markets, cafes etc. Newtown also has a good local theatre and traditional cinema.
Popular attractions in the area include the red kites, Hafren Forest, Clywedog Reservoir and Dam, Snowdonia National Park (13 miles), the largest wind farm in Europe and the Centre for Alternative Technology (14 miles). Amongst popular activities in the Area are the Forest Experience Rally School in Carno and within a few miles there is pony trekking, quad trekking, golf, cycling, clay pigeon shooting, narrow gauge railways, bird watching, walking, sailing and fishing. Lovely beaches within easy reach at Aberdyfi and Borth (about 40 minutes).
