The Stone House is a delightful character cottage dating back to 1780, with the owner's property - the former milking shed and dairy - attached. Set in a peaceful, rural location at the end of a No Through Road with no passing traffic and footpaths from the door, this is an excellent location for enjoying the beautiful countryside of Mid Wales and the Marches. The cottage is 1.75 miles above the village of Churchstoke, and 6 miles east of the historic market town of Montgomery. Welshpool is 11.5 miles north and Newtown 13 miles to the east.
The comfortable accommodation comprises a cosy sitting room with beamed ceiling and woodburning stove, FreeSat TV and DVD player, mini hifi system and WiFi, a separate dining room and a neatly fitted, well equipped kitchen with electric double oven, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer. To the first floor, the cottage has two bedrooms, one with a king size and one with twin beds, and a contemporary shower room. To the front of the property is a parking area shared with the owners. Guests at the cottage have their own private entrance at the side of the property, with access also into the enclosed rear garden, where there is garden furniture and a barbecue. The gardens are enclosed by hedging and stock-proof fencing, but dogs will need to be supervised as there are often sheep and wildlife in the surrounding fields. The owner can provide access by arrangement to the washing machine in her utility room, via an interconnecting door.
There are wonderful views over the surrounding countryside from the cottage. A lovely walk from the door takes you to the nearby Nature Reserve and footpaths up Corndon and Roundton hills. Churchstoke, less than 2 miles away, is thriving village with excellent facilities including two pubs serving meals, a Chinese takeaway, large supermarket with launderette, hairdresser, cafe, Post Office, garden centre and Country Park. Montgomery, six miles away, is a picturesque former county town with medieval and Georgian architecture, castle ruins with panoramic views, two small local museums, a Michelin-starred restaurant, excellent Fish & Chip shop and Monty's Brewery Visitor Centre. Also nearby are Kerryvale Vineyard and Dairy Dreams Ice Cream - lots of local produce for tasting! The National Trust's Powis Castle is on the way to Welshpool, where you will also find the Powysland Museum, The Old Station (Edinburgh Woollen Mill, gifts and cafe) and the Welshpool-Llanfair Caereinion Light Railway where you can take a lovely, scenic steam train ride along the Banwy Valley.

This was one of the best properties we have stayed in - it has everything you could possibly need. The owner greeted us and showed us around. They also suggested places to visit. The welcome goodies were amazing. A truly relaxing holiday - thanksMrs Debbie Denton - 14th July 2018
Perfect cottage in beautiful peaceful situation. Beautifully presented scrupulously clean. Amazing welcome food pack and attentive but unobtrusive owners who go more than the extra mile. Nice dog proof garden.Ms Jenny Curtis - 30th June 2018

What an absolutely wonderful place to relax and unwind! And what lovely people Rachel and Adrian are. The most welcoming and kind people you could meet! So helpful! Even looked after Otty when we went out to watch Liverpool get beat! The Hughes Family - 30th May 2018
A wonderful warm welcome to this wonderful and warm cottage. You could not ask for more in a holiday home. The cottage is exceptionally clean and so well equipped. The scrumptious lemon drizzle cake, orange & almond cake and 'wow' those scotch eggs - much needed after being out all day. The owners are the perfect hosts allowing you privacy but there when you need them. We hope to return soon as part of our house hunting! Thanks for everything - you really are a lovely coupleIan & Janet - 29th April 2018
Beautiful cottage, with everything we need - lovely personal touches added throughout. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will definitely recommend to all! You'll see us again soon!Ms Katrina Lawrence-Honeycombe - 13th April 2018
We stayed the weekend for Andy's 39th birthday and the owner made us feel really welcome from the start. Special little touches such as a birthday banner and cake. Nothing was too much trouble. Cottage is so lovely and a home away from home, made even more welcoming by the breakfast necessities left for us, and bathroom essentials. Thank you so much for a relaxing stay.Mrs Kelly Cartwright - 2nd April 2018
Fabulous place. So comfortable, clean, well equipped. Breakfast provisions and a cake were lovely added extras - especially when the snow kept us here another night! The owners are gems, lovely welcoming hosts.James & Julie - 19th March 2018
The four of us have been renting cottages for more than 20 years. This has been by far the best we have had mainly due to the attention to detail by the owners. Right from the initial welcome, you have both made it an absolute pleasure to be here. Thank you so much, look forward to returning.Mrs J Bilson - 13th March 2018
A wonderful place to visit, great host and an unforgettable time. Thank you for everything.Dr Enrique Martinez-Perez - 14th February 2018
A perfect stay in your beautiful home. The crisp winter sunshine made the local scenery absolutely stunning. We can't thank you enough for your warm welcome and hospitality - the delicious lemon drizzle, breakfast provisions, making up the log burner daily and your amazingly kind gesture of washing and drying a pair of extremely muddy jeans. Thank you, thank you, thank you.Sue and Keith - 26th November 2017
This is the nicest holiday property I have stayed in. The cottage is clean and well looked after, and the owners are extremely friendly. we could not have asked for a better stay.Ms Trudie Wardle - 13th November 2017

One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. A very cosy and welcoming atmosphere. The owners have thought of everything and we would like to thank them for their exceptional hospitality and generosity (it was far more than a starter pack!) and the owners lemon drizzle cake was to die for!Mr Simon Mann - 6th October 2017
After a long drive a very warm welcome to all of us was wonderful and Stone Cottage from the start felt like a home from home. The kitchen was stocked and everything had been thought of to make our stay as comfortable as we could have asked for. It's beautiful here and we loved Maisie and hope to come back soon. Thank you so much.Mrs Amanda Dean - 22nd September 2017
Delightful cottage, beautifully equipped with absolutely everything one could need, and in wonderful, peaceful location.Mrs Gaubert - 9th September 2017
A beautiful property, with fantastic views, it was quite remote and you do have to drive to get to the nearest pub/village stores etc, but it suited our needs. The hosts Rachel and Adrian were fantastic, friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them and their generosity is second to none. You need to make tall people aware of low ceilings and door frames, my husband is only 5ft 81/2" and he still managed to hit his head on the bedroom door frame several times during our stay.Mrs L STAFFORD - 4th September 2017
Wonderful visit. Great house. Perfect hosts! Our dog Eddie also loved it.Mr Fletcher - 1st September 2017
