Hafren Retreat is the corner cottage in this L shaped barn conversion, with its own patio table and chairs on the shared terrace to the front, with views over the surrounding countryside. The barn is approximately 150 years old and converted sympathetically, retaining some attractive exposed beams. The cottages are set above the owners' restored farmhouse, in 1.5 acres of grounds in the Wye Valley, a mile south of Llangurig, which has pubs and a local shop, and 7 miles north of Rhayader.
Living Room: open plan, with a large leather corner sofa providing ample seating for everyone, FreeSat TV and DVD player, WiFi, electric flame-effect stove; dining area with table and four chairs; kitchen area with fitted units, electric oven, gas hob, fridge freezer, microwave and washing machine.
Shower Room: with shower in enclosure, WC, basin, heated towel rail, shaver light.
stairs rise from the living room direct into a double bedroom, with access then into the twin bedroom. Both bedrooms have beamed, sloping ceilings, but with good headroom.
Outside: the cottage overlooks a large, shared patio area with its own table and chairs, looking out over the Wye Valley and lovely hill views.
Shared Facilities: guests have access, if required, to a utility room with rack for two bikes.
Parking: shared parking area below the cottages; steep slope or stepped access up to the patio and cottage entrance.
The upper Wye Valley is a picturesque area, popular with walkers, mountain bikers, cyclists and nature lovers. There is good walking from the door, and a short drive takes you to the wonderful waterfalls at Devil's Bridge, or the impressive scenery of the Elan Valley, with its reservoirs, forested hillsides and nature reserves. Rhayader is home to a Red Kite Feeding Station. The Vale of Rheidol Steam Railway runs from Devil's Bridge to Aberystwyth, 27 miles away, where there is a sandy beach, pier and promenade. This is a good, central location for touring the many beauties and attractions of Mid Wales.

Lovely comfortable cottage in a beautiful part of the countryside. The owners lived next door and were very welcoming and helpful. Stunning scenery and well positioned to visit the sights of mid Wales.
Cosy, spotlessly clean and very well equipped cottage in the heart of mid-Wales perfectly situated to access the Elan Valley, Hafren Forest and surrounding countryside. Owners very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.
