This is a single storey cottage, converted from part of a former barn on the yard of the owner's working farm, one mile above the charming village of Berriew and 6 miles SW of Welshpool. The property is on National Cycle route 81, is well-placed for some excellent circular walks and convenient for golf, gardens, Montgomery and Powis castles.

Suitable also for less able visitors, Barn 1 comprises a fitted kitchen and good-sized living room with an electric stove, TV, DVD & CD player and patio doors to the small patio and lawned area to the front. Double bedroom and single bedroom (folding bed also available) and a wet room. The cottage has a washing machine, Wi-Fi, and wood and slate tiled floors with underfloor heating.

Berriew has two good pubs serving meals, excellent cafe, a couple of shops, tennis courts, sculpture museum and nearby Glansevern Gardens.  Welshpool has leisure centre with swimming pool, Powis Castle and steam railway to Llanfair Caereinion.  Excellent walking in the area, including the Severn Way (along the River Severn and Montgomery Canal) and Kerry Ridgeway.

Electricity & heating included

Bed linen and towels provided

No smoking inside

The cottage was wonderful. The views from the cottage were stunning. Mr & Mrs Powell were lovely and the welcome pack of home made Welsh cakes and tea, were greatly received. The accommodation was very well equipped and the beds were extremely comfortable. We left some items at the cottage and Mr & Mrs Powell had no problems forwarding them to us. We travelled to Snowdonia, Wrexham and the Aberystwyth and the cottage was ideally situated for all locations. We would definitely return.

Mr G U,

Would definitely recommend this property. Run by a lovely friendly couple. It was warm, clean and comfortable, which was great as despite being the end of March, the weather was quite cold. All necessary amenities were provided, well placed for exploring both locally and further afield.
