Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod

For one week in July each year, Llangollen is descended upon by the world. During the day, International musicians and dancers compete in over 20 high quality competitions. Each evening the best and most colourful competitors share the stage in renowned concerts given by professional artists, many of whom started their careers in Llangollen. Placido Domingo acknowledges that his first professional experience in the United Kingdom was at the 1968 International Eisteddfod, and in 1955 Luciano Pavarotti competed with his father in the male voice choir competition with others from their home town of Modena. The choir won its section, and Pavarotti returned for a spectacular concert in 1995. Kiri Te Kanawa, Jehudi Menhuin, José Carreras, Lesley Garrett, Bryn Terfel, Katherine Jenkins, Dennis O’Neil, James Galway, Nigel Kennedy, Elaine Paige, Michael Ball, and Montserrat Caballé are among the musical stars that have appeared in its Gala Concerts.
Folk at the Hall

Many great folk acts will descend on this corner of North East Wales for a weekend jam-packed with music, local Welsh produce and beers, artist workshops and a heritage walk. Confirmed named acts so far include Karine Polwart, Talisk and The Sam Kelly Trio.
The Denbigh Show
★ Saturday 26th August 2017 ★ Lon Felin Field, Ystrad Road, Denbigh LL16 4RH ★
For traditional family fun where better than an established country show with a range of attractions, activities and display to suit all ages. Listen to live music as you wander around the stalls, the food hall or the flower tent. The headlining entertainment for 2016 has yet to be announced but you can be guaranteed of a great day out for all!
★ Monday 28 August 2017 ★ Cilgain Village, Mold CH7 5NN ★
The Cilgain annual show has been running since 1932 and often attracts over 4000 visitors. Always well thought out and organised, usual events include a dogs show, mountain race, junior fell racing, Morris dancing, entertainment from the Gwernaffield Silver Band and the surprisingly popular event of Teddy Bear parachuting from the tower of St Mary’s Church!
