Description

Barcud (Welsh for Red Kite) is the essence of rural luxury. Part of a 5* converted barn, this superior apartment is brimming with quality, character, and is open plan living at its finest. Drink in the unspoilt landscape from your personal balcony, set in 13 acres of private grounds.

Originally part of the Hafod Estate, this peaceful haven is ideal for friends or a family up to 5. Explore quirky Ceredigion, the spectacular Cambrian Mountains, or relax in your magical countryside idyll.

Children and dogs will love to explore the grounds; what about you? How about a swim/spa hot tub, a games room with American snooker and table tennis, al fresco dining on the Welsh slate patio with 360 degrees of lush views?

With private access from your own balcony to the first floor, your open plan area is light and airy with gorgeous vaulted ceilings and a chic finish.

Your modern kitchen has the Wow factor! With a Shaker design and subtle shades, it houses everything you need for entertaining; or pack a picnic, pull on your boots, call the dog and enjoy the freedom of exploring the grounds.

A big 5-seater wooden dining table makes this a bright sociable hub for lazy lunches and hearty feasts.

The soft ambient light of the lounge just makes you feel content. Homely chairs and a sofa welcome you; relax and catch up on Netflix with your SMART TV or share a glass and stargaze as the dog twitches at your feet dreaming about their exciting day.

From your tranquil living area, stairs take you down to two attractively furbished bedrooms with blissful underfloor heating. Both have ample storage, a SMART TV each with Netflix and share a wet room bathroom.

Bedroom 1 - with a super king-sized bed, ample storage and direct access to a private Welsh slate patio and the grounds beyond.

Bedroom 2 – a light room, accommodates three with one single bed, custom built full-sized bunk beds and plenty of space to move around.

Family Shower Room - Grohe shower, heated towel rail, an LED illuminated cabinet and toilet.

Kitchen - Abundant facilities include an electric oven and hob, extractor fan, dishwasher, under counter fridge and freezer.

Dining Area – large farmhouse dining table and chairs.

Living Room - includes a SMART TV, DVD player, sofas, coffee and side tables. Gable window offering views of the grassy countryside, access to raised balcony area with steps down to private patio and picnic table with bench.

Guests at Barcud also enjoy use of the shared Great Hall; a truly dramatic space with soaring beams, glazed lantern roof and floor to ceiling picture window. Use the Great Hall to mix and mingle, enjoy a good book or break out the board games and have some old-fashioned fun. The games room with American snooker and table tennis is also accessed from the Great Hall. If you prefer not to use the guest amenities, Barcud is a private wing which is not overlooked; simply hear the silence, observe the wildlife and lounge about.

There are dog friendly beaches within easy distance at sandy Ynys Las, Borth, Tan y Bwlch and Aberystwyth North beach.

Or try the stunning Devil’s Bridge written about by William Wordsworth and the Gentleman’s Walk, part of the fascinating Georgian Hafod Estate 3 miles away – of which Tynrhyd Retreat used to be a part.

At Devil’s Bridge jump aboard the dog friendly narrow-gauge steam locomotive on the Vale of Rheidol railway, which runs to Aberystwyth hugging the contours of the landscape travelling through wide open fields and rugged landscapes. A sea side town there is plenty to do in Aberystwyth with a promenade, stacks of shops and places to eat. Pick up the Wales Coast Path here passing over Constitution Hill with fab views of Cardigan Bay and the world’s largest Camera Obscura.
Visit the award winning Bwlch Nant yr Arian with its all-purpose trails, play areas, Visitor Centre, cafe, shop and breath taking red kite feeding station – a 10-minute drive from Tynrhyd Retreat.

Whatever the weather, whatever the time of year there is ample to see and do, with friends, family and your dog in this beautiful area - all accessible from your 5* luxury hideaway.
