Attractions and Activities in Pembrokeshire & West Wales

Theme parks to coasteering, heritage railways to botanical gardens this popular area of Wales has so much choice of things to do you will have to come back to visit time and again!

Oakwood Theme Park

Oakwood Theme Park

The fun starts at Oakwood Theme Park from the moment you arrive at the car park - why bother walking to the park entrance when you can jump on the Oakwood Park Railway instead? Classed as one of Wales’ top tourist attractions, the theme park invests millions of pounds to keep their many rides fresh and exciting. The wooden roller coaster, Megafobia, has been voted as the best ride in the UK, and third best in the world! ‘Drenched’ is certainly not a ride you want to miss, although you might prefer to wait until closer to home time to ride it. You will be taken 100ft up into the area, and dropped back into the pool below at speeds of nearly 90kph. If you think you’ve come away from the drop fairly dry, the 45ft wave created at the bottom will make you think again! Enter ‘Neverland’ and enjoy child-friendly rides and experiences. When the sun goes down, don’t be in a hurry to rush off - the ‘After Dark’ experience includes fireworks, laser shows, live bands and rides in the dark!

Battlefield Live Pembrokeshire

For a challenging day of outdoor laser combat, visit the award-winning Battlefield Live Pembrokeshire. Using the latest infra-red technology, you need to work as a team and communicate with each other effectively in order to succeed in your missions. The purpose built battlefield is set in themed woodlands which gives your game a ‘real-world’ feel. The missions are suitable from aged 7, but if you are an older group and want something to really test your combat experience, try the Close Quarter Battle experience. Set in a purpose built prison, you will need to work as a team to clear rooms and complete a rescue mission, all whilst trying to avoid the enemies. Battlefield Live Pembrokeshire also runs a ‘Zombie Apocalypse Survival’ event on certain dates throughout the year. Set at night time among nearly 200 acres, you and your team will have to make choices that can impact your apocalyptic survival - but beware of the zombies running around the woodland that could ruin your survival mission.

The Dinosaur Park

The Dinosaur Park

Situated just outside the popular seaside town of Tenby, The Dinosaur Park should be on the top of your ‘places to visit’ list if you have children. Take a stroll around the dinosaur trail and see over 30 different species of dinosaur, ranging from the monstrous T-Rex to the water-spitting Dilosophaur and the baby Triceratops. Learn more about these prehistoric animals by completing the dinosaur quiz - if you do well, there’s an ‘Expert’ sticker waiting for you at the end of the trail! When you’ve proudly placed your sticker on your top, take yourself and your children over to Wales’ only Tubey Run. Whoever would have thought that an inflatable ring could give you such an adrenaline rush? As well as the Tubey Run, the park also offers an astro slide, a super bouncey trampoline, Disco Boats, Bubble Ride, outdoor playground and an indoor playpen. All manned rides are included in the price of your admission tickets, so the whole day could easily be spent here without breaking the bank!

Makin' Tracks

Makin' Tracks

★ Discount voucher available for Wales Cottage Holidays customers ★

Spend a day at Makin’ Tracks to enjoy a number of exciting outdoor activities. After one-to-one tuition, let your children loose on the purpose built course on a 50cc Quad Bike, or for older children (and adults!) give the segways a go. After learning how to steer and control the segway on flat ground, take the two wheeled machine for a spin over the fields and go as fast as you dare! If you’re already a dab hand at controlling a segway, get divided into teams and compete against each other with a variety of games such as carrying water and bursting balloons. Might sound easy, but with every body movement affecting the direction of the segway, it will certainly be a challenge! Alternatively, have you ever thought about driving a tank? Well, at Makin’ Tracks you can! The scale model tanks are fitted with the latest laser technology. Navigate your way over railway sleepers, through tunnels and over some steps, all whilst trying to shoot the targets situated around the course. Who will come away as the winner?

Animalarium, Borth Zoo

Animalarium, Borth Zoo

★ Discount voucher available for Wales Cottage Holidays customers ★

Located just outside the beautiful seaside village of Borth, the Animalarium takes unwanted exotic pets and excess animals from other zoos. The zoo houses a wide range of animals from rabbits and ponies to snakes and crocodiles, so a visit here is sure to make you go wobbly at the knees with the cute animals, and make your knees quiver with the scary animals! The staff at the Animalarium encourage visitors to not only look at the animals, but to get hands on with them. Be sure to watch the reptile shows, where you can not only learn about the behaviour of snakes and lizards, but be given the opportunity to touch and stroke them. If you’re feeling brave, you can even have a large Burmese python sit on your shoulders! Another great experience that you shouldn’t miss out on is feeding time. Watch the zookeepers feed the meat eating leopards, ocelots, lynx and crocodiles. Don’t be late for the show though as needless to say, their food doesn’t stay uneaten for long!
