Summer in Pembrokeshire & West Wales is a glorious time and to top it off there are some great events to make your stay here even more memorable!
Cardigan Bay Seafood Festival
★ Sunday 9 July 2017 ★ Aberaeron Harbour ★
The Cardigan Bay Seafood Festival was established in 1997 by a group of Aberaeron fisherman looking to showcase the wonderful fish available locally and the many ways in which it could be prepare and enjoy. The festival has grown to become one of the highlights in the West Wales events calendar, and with the scenic Aberaeron harbour and picturesque town providing the backdrop it isn’t surprising that thousands attend the event year.
The Wales Marathon
★ Sunday 9 July 2017 ★ Tudor Square, Tenby SA70 7AD ★
Now in it's eighth year, this marathon event is a popular fixture on many runner's calendars. Being the only closed road marathon event in Wales is just one of the features that keep people entering year after year and on the Friday and Saturday previous there is a race Expo where you can check out the latest products and kit from many different exhibitors or book yourself in for a sports massage. The route takes you to Pembroke and back, but there is also the option of a Half Marathon. Whichever you choose you will enjoy a red carpet finish surrounded by (as long as you are not too late) lots of race supporters!
Festival of Welsh Ponies and Cobs
★ Sunday 13 August 2017 ★ Cae Sgwar, Aberaeron SA46 0AU ★
Held in the Cae Sgwar (square field), right in the heart of the Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron, this unique event aims to showcase all the qualities of this remarkable breed. The Running of the Stallions is considered one of the highlights of the day and can be an amazing sight to behold. The Welsh Horse Yeomanry and the Tristar carriage driving team are hopefully going to be in attendance again this year with their impressive displays of horsemanship.
