Bwthyn Clyd luxury holiday cottage in St Davids is located in the centre of the smallest city in Britain. This is however a city centre location unlike any other. Across the road from the holiday cottage, St Davids' famous 12th century Cathedral and ruined Bishops Palace take pride of place. It was reported that two pilgrimages to St Davids equalled one to Rome, and three pilgrimages equalled one to Jerusalem. These days St Davids has many restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops and is a beautiful and unique city surrounded by some of the finest coastline in Europe.
The city of St Davids lies next to the River Alun and is located on the St David's peninsula. Granted city status by Queen Elizabeth II because of the presence of the cathedral, St Davids is in reality a small beautiful village. Situated within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, St Davids is renowned for its beauty and abundance of wildlife.
Whitesands Bay, one of the many beautiful beaches in the area, carries the prestigious European Blue Flag Award. St Davids Cathedral has been the dominant presence since the 12th century and was a popular pilgrimage destination throughout the Middle Ages and indeed remains so to this day attracting thousands of visitors every year. Adjacent to the cathedral stand the magnificent ruins of the medieval Bishops Palace. The city of St Davids has a great deal to offer visitor. Many people have fallen to the charm of St Davids including current New Zealand rugby Coach Graham Henry who lists St Davids as his favourite place in the World.
Solva lies only a few miles to the East and is known as the jewel of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, and is situated on the beautiful West Wales coast. An ideal location for walking, sailing, fishing or simply relaxing amongst the shops, galleries and restaurants set in beautiful scenery. It lies on a deep ravine at the mouth of the River Solva, consisting of a long street ending at the small harbour. You will find several local pubs providing great food and atmosphere, there is also a local shop that includes a post office, news agent and many holiday items such as fishing tackle and beach items. From Solva harbour you can take a boat trip to view the local wildlife or even a fishing trip to catch some fresh fish for a nice BBQ. Quay jumping is a favourite past time of local children, as is crab fishing. Sailboat and water activity courses can also be booked from the quay.
Ramsey Island is also well worth a visit during your stay at Bwthyn Clyd holiday cottage, St Davids, Pembrokeshire. It is a dramatic off-shore island, a mile off Pembrokeshire’s coast. The island covers approx 600 acres and features 400ft high cliffs, which teem with breeding seabirds and is now owned Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. Ramsey Island is accessible by a regular boat service from St Justinian’s, which crosses the spectacular Ramsey sound, with its infamous and treacherous reef, known as the Bitches. The island is home to several thousand seabirds in the season, including razor-bills, kittiwakes, fulmers, chough, guilliemot, raven, peregrine and puffin. The caves s and beaches around Ramsey are breeding grounds for the largest concentration of grey seals who give birth to over 400 white coated pups during the Autumn.

Excellent property, great location and friendly locals.Richard from North Yorkshire - 13th August 2018
A wonderful cosy and beautifully renovated cottage, felt very comfortable there. Excellent location for shops, pubs, restaurants and the wonderful coastal path. Bwthyn Clyd is a beautifully renovated character cottage in St. David's. It is cosy and welcoming and was spotlessly clean on our arrival. The location of the cottage is perfect for reaching all the amenities of this small city. Coffee shops, pubs and restaurants are all close by, as is the glorious coastal path. Walking the coastal path in either direction from St. David's is a must and nearby Solva, Tenby and Fishguard are all worth a visit. A wonderful relaxing week spent in this lovely area of Wales. Booking and contact with Powells Cottage Holidays was hassle free and we would not hesitate to book through this cottage company again. Thanks, we had a great time.. Sandra and Derek Brown The cottage was really lovely, one of the best we have stayed in. Mrs Sandra Brown - 9th July 2018

Sweet little characterful cottage in the centre of St Davids. Loved the cottage and its situation, very cosy once we turned the heating up a little. Would definitely come again. A great company to deal with, helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable. Suzanne from Shipston On Stour - 30th April 2018
The property was pleasant and we enjoyed ourselves.Emily from the UK - 15th January 2018
Very well equipped, clean and convenient. Ramsey Island visit is fantastic but take protective clothing in hot weather ( no trees). Enjoyed being able to walk to the 2 closest beaches and there is more than enough to see around St. David's without driving too far. Solva was lovely.Couple from Herefordshire - 25th June 2017
Homely, well equipped, great location. Visit the cathedral, surrounding beaches, coastal views are a must see, go see Pembroke Castle - excellent.Linda from East Yorkshire - 26th September 2016
Ideal location as in the middle of St Davids so hardly have to walk to the pubs, cafes and shops with a bus stop right outside if you don't want to take the car. Boat trip to see dolphins was fantastic, coastal walks with stunning views, sound café do great burgers, try the oggies in St Davids, Bishops palace was a great place to visit. It was easy to book and communication was good.Rebecca from Sheffield - 11th September 2016
We visited St Davids to join friends who are walking the Wales coast path. Bwthyn Clyd is ideally placed for walking the coast around St Davids. The Bishops (a few yards from the property) is very good for evening meals. We really enjoyed the RSPB boat trip around Grassholm and to Ramsey Island.Friends from Suffolk - 25th June 2016
Easy to find and met with a warm welcome by the owner. Parking voucher for use during stay was a great idea. Visit the local art galleries. They are well supported and we saw some original oil paintings by John Constable. Make use of the local hopper buses.Couple from Warwickshire - 19th May 2016
