Fabulous place. Great property, well situated as a base for visiting Gwynedd and very friendly and lovely, helpful owners.
Bwthyn Nant Bach is a beautifully converted barn that has clearly had a lot of love, time and money put into it. The owners were very friendly people who wanted to make sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. I spent Christmas 2018 here with my family and we all had a lovey time (2 Adults 2 Teens), we've already spoken about doing it again, this was our first cottage holiday, really impressed. The surrounding area is stunning with access to walking trails less than 1/2 mile from the front door. The closest pub (The Goat Inn) is a 2 mile walk but can be accessed by using the walking trail so no need to walk country lanes, its a lovey pub too with great food. Porthmadog is a good location for your shopping needs and if you get a chance Criccieth Castle was a great visit, both are about 7-8 miles from the cottage. Wales Cottage Holidays were also friendly and helpful to deal with, they did a great job of answering all my questions before booking. I would highly recommend both this property and Wales Cottage Holidays.
Property owners very welcoming, the property felt luxurious and very well equipped, good heating system & plenty of hot water (important after day walking/cycling) we really enjoyed our stay.
The cottage was in excellent condition and very well equipped. We also appreciated the warm welcome from Nesta and Hefin, plus the milk, apple juice etc left for us.
We had a wonderful week in this beautiful cottage. Excellent location, very comfortable beds and very clean. Fab holiday.
The property is very well maintained and presented. The owner was welcoming and helpful without being intrusive.
A beautiful cottage renovated to very high standards.
Located on a farm in the heart of the National Park, this is self catering in Snowdonia at its very best. Your detached cottage enjoys a peaceful setting on the outskirts of Pant Glas, a small hamlet that's central to the major attractions of North Wales, including Porthmadog (9 miles), Caernarfon (10 miles), Pwllheli (11.5 miles) as well as Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. Surrounded by majestic landscapes, Pant Glas is also famous for producing one of Wales' and the world's leading opera singers, Bryn Terfel.
The nearest pub / restaurant (Goat Inn - with excellent Sunday lunch) is just 2 miles away in the village of Bryncir and a curry house is also within 2 miles. Some of the highly recommended restaurants nearby include Dylan's in Cricieth (7 miles), Yr Hen Fecws in Porthmadog and Blas in Caernarfon. The nearest grocery shop is in Penygroes (4 miles), also home to Pant Du Vineyard where you can do some wine tasting.
With wondrous walks and cycle routes from the doorstep, Cricieth Castle, Caernarfon Castle, golden beaches and narrow gauge railways all within 10 miles, this really is an excellent base for your holiday in North Wales. Another major attraction in the area is the Zip Wire and again, your cottage is central to the Bethesda and Blaenau Ffestiniog venues (both 21.5 miles). Bethesda offers the longest and fastest zip ride in Europe whilst Blaenau Ffestiniog also offers Bounce Below, the only subterranean playground of its kind and the Slate Caverns.
One of the nearest attractions to the cottage is Bryncir Woollen Mill (2 miles), whilst Glasfryn Parc (7 miles) with its go karts, quadbikes, ten-pin bowling etc is another ideal all weather venue. Enjoy family adventure at Greenwood Forest Park (16 miles) and the Electric Mountain in Llanberis (19 miles), where you can also catch a train to the peak of Snowdon. For beautiful beaches, hidden coves and idyllic seaside villages, visit the Llyn Peninsula and the Holy Island of Ynys Enlli (Bardsey Island). The classic Italian village of Portmeirion (12 miles) is another 'must visit' whilst Porthmadog is the base for stunning narrow gauge railway journeys through the National Park to either Blaenau Ffestiniog, or Caernarfon.
Cricieth has two popular beaches, either side of the Castle. These are a mixture of sand and pebble with a rocky area at the far end of the eastern beach exposing rock pools at low tide. 7 miles
Morfa Bychan's Black Rock Sands is one of the most beautiful in Britain and you can take your car on to the beach for a small fee. 11 miles
There are also many more beautiful beaches on the Llyn Peninsula and the Caernarfon area (eg. Aberdesach and Dinas Dinlle).
Lôn Eifion - old railway track from Bryncir to Caernarfon. Join path 0.5 mile away in Pantglas
Lôn Eifion (as above)
Lon Goed - a beautiful 6 mile avenue of hardwood trees and a paradise for walkers. 5 miles from the cottage
Llyn Coastal Path (part of the All Wales Coast Path) – Many sections within a short distance, with the nearest joining point being Cricieth. 7 miles.
Plenty of mountain walks to choose from in Snowdonia. Snowdon, the highest, is a must and the nearest route starts from Rhyd-ddu (11 miles), or you can catch the train from Llanberis (19 miles) to the summit café.
Eisteddfa Fisheries - Choice of beautiful lakes to suit all preferences with tackle, advice and refreshments provided. 7 miles
Or what about a fishing trip around St Tudwal’s Islands, two tiny islands just off Abersoch (19 miles). Alternatively, you can sit back and watch the dolphins, seals and other wildlife in their natural habitat.
Plenty of options, including Caernarfon, Porthmadog and Pwllheli.
Porthmadog Activity and Riding Centre – enjoy miles of unspoiled trekking in stunning scenery. Suitable for children from 4 years to adults. 10 miles
Pwllheli Sailing Club, Pwllheli Marina – excellent facilities and possibly the best sailing waters in the U.K. 11 miles
Abersoch beach offers flat water for wakeboarding and waterskiing, sailing, power boating and windsurfing. 19 miles
