Cefn Bwlch Bach is a beautifully restored, single storey C16th stone barn adjoining the owners' traditional Welsh Long house. This is in an area of 'extreme natural beauty,' set within half an acre of mature gardens, down a narrow private lane, with panoramic views of the mountains of Snowdonia and close to a wealth of major visitor attractions. 4 miles to the historic town of Caernarfon, 3 miles to Llanberis at the foot of Snowdon and on the perimeter of the Snowdonia National Park.
Stylish design and furnishing give a contemporary feel to this barn conversion. The light and airy beamed living/dining room has a traditional slate floor and is comfortably furnished with leather chairs, oriental rugs, a table and chairs, TV/DVD/Freeview/CD player and commissioned glass art work. The beautiful spacious bedroom has a king sized bed, an en suite shower room and side tables and chairs to sit in, relax and enjoy the surroundings. There is also an additional separate bathroom. The well equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher and microwave, a separate utility room houses the washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. Oil central heating @ extra cost. Cefn Bwlch Bach has several delightful paved patio areas with seating and use of the owners' mature gardens.
This property is a five star retreat in a quiet location yet in an ideal location for exploring the Snowdonia National Park and the superb coastline of north Wales. Within a couple of miles is an old style bakery, friendly pub serving good pub food, an award winning butcher and a popular cafe with internet access. Local attractions include: Llanberis lake and mountain railways, the National Slate Museum and Electric Mountain underground tours. The majestic castle, Welsh Highland Railway, theatre and harbour at Caernarfon. National Trust properties of Penrhyn Castle, Plas Newydd and the stunning garden at Bodnant. A choice of world class beaches on Anglesey or the Lleyn Peninsula. And for the more adventurous you couldn't be better placed for walking, climbing, watersports, cycling and the ever popular ZipWorld zip wire. We were looking for a last minute stay in North Wales during the school summer holidays. With less than 24 hours virtually every property was booked and those that weren't looked less than desirable. We did however find Cefn Bwlch Bach. The pictures looked very nice but surely the reality would be a let down at this short notice? How wrong we were with that thought. The booking process through Wales Cottage Holidays was simple and the people on the phone very helpful. A clear e mail with directions and information was sent immediately after we'd made payment. The drive from South Wales was very pleasant and our phone call to the owner revealed her to be an incredibly welcoming and helpful person. The small lane down to the cottage was a bit of a squeeze, but manageable in a Volvo xc 90. Parking outside was easy. The gate into the private garden revealed a beautiful lawn with obviously loved and cared for trees, shrubs and flowers that added a riot of colours and scents and attracted butterflies and honey bees. The small terrace outside the front door was secluded and charming and the door opens straight into the lounge. In basic terms the lounge is a good size with a fully fitted kitchen, utility and bathroom off. The bedroom is large with views out to the rear terraces and has a good sized ensuite shower room. Beyond this basic information however is the care and attention given to the decor and furnishings. The family running the cottage are artistic people and the cottage provides a constantly surprising and tasteful display of pieces that create a warm and welcoming atmosphere infused with relaxation and tranquility. It is truly like walking through your front door and arriving home.In conversation with the owners we found that the cottage was available due to a cancellation. Our good fortune indeed. This is an ideal place for a couple to escape the rigours of city life whilst being in the ideal location to explore North Wales. We will most definitely be returning, taking care to book well ahead in future.Mr Dwyer - 22nd August 2016
