Eagle Lodge is the end, semi-detached, single storey property in a row of three, recently converted from the former Dolgellau Golf Club House, in an elevated position above the town, within the south Snowdonia National Park. Step out of the living room onto the shared decking area with picnic benches, overlooking the golf course. The first three holes of the golf course are still in use; further details below. There are also footpaths from the property, though the surrounding hills and woodlands, with some wonderful mountain views.
This comfortable accommodation sleeps six, with a contemporary feel. The lodge has central heating throughout and unlimited WiFi. Access is from the decking at the front of the property, direct into the open-plan living room.
Living Room/Kitchen: with two sofas, Freesat TV, dining table and six chairs, and a fully fitted kitchen with integrated appliances: electric single oven, ceramic hob, extractor fan, fridge with 3* freezer compartment and dishwasher.
Bedroom 1: with double bed
En Suite Shower Room: shower cubicle, WC, basin
Bedroom 2: with twin beds
Bedroom 3: a spacious bedroom with super king size bed (can be made up as a twin on request)
Family Bathroom: bath with shower over, WC, basin
Outside: large, shared decking area to the front of the group of cottages, each property having its own picnic bench
Parking: shared parking area at the end of the building.
No children under 8; the open grounds include river access, some steep drops, heavy machinery on the golf course, etc.
GOLF: The first three holes of the golf club have been retained by the owner and are still being maintained to a high standard. There are two par 4’s and a par 3 with a practise ground which is 200 yards long. Guests staying at the Lodges and Bryn-yr-Odyn Cottage have exclusive use of the facility during their stay, free of charge. The owner is a PGA Professional and is available for lessons or guidance if you wish to play many of the fine courses in the area. This should be arranged prior to arrival.
PETS: Dogs are welcome at the lodges, but they are not permitted on the golf course. Footpaths from the grounds provide plenty of scope for dog walking. Please clean up after your dogs, both inside and outside the property.
There are excellent local facilities in Dolgellau, a historic market town on the river Wnion, including a couple of small supermarkets, a good range of shops, pubs and cafés, and a local theatre. The famous mountain biking centre at Coed-y-Brenin is just a short drive away. Walk or cycle the Mawddach Trail along the river Mawddach towards its Estuary at Barmouth, 8 miles away, a popular seaside town with a long sandy beach, amusement arcades and activities for all ages. There are often spectacular sunsets to be seen beyond the iconic Barmouth Bridge. A trip along the opposite side of the Estuary takes you to Penmaenpool, with the renowned George III pub and a Wildlife Centre where you can see many fascinating birds and water creatures. The Penmaenpool toll bridge is a Grade II listed wooden bridge crossing the Estuary. A little further on and you reach Fairbourne, with its sand and shingle beach, and miniature Steam Railway. This stretch of coastline has many sandy beaches and stunning views over Cardigan Bay, whilst inland you can enjoy some stunning mountain scenery, lakes and forest walks.
Electricity and central heating included; WiFi included
Bed linen and towels provided
Everything was lovely: the property, the furnishings, the equipment, view. I`m very happy with my chioce and I`m confident we might visit again next year in time for the rally.
It was the first time it had been rented and we found everything very well organised. We will definitely return as soon as our busy lives enable us to do so.
