Description

A truly unique and secluded stone farm cottage, set in a completely out-of-the-way location, in the hills 10 miles north of Dolgellau (about a 30-minute drive into the town). On a working sheep farm of 700 acres, this cottage is in a superb location in the Snowdonia National Park with wonderful scenery, excellent walking from the door, mountain biking trails and waterfalls. The cottage is carbon neutral with electricity from a water turbine and heating from a ground source heat pump.

'The nearby Coed y Brenin forest park has superb singletrack mountain bike trails for all abilities, family walking trails, play areas, orienteering trails, a bike hire shop and good cafe ' form Jacky, our local property manager

The Cottage: has been sympathetically renovated and retains many original features. Plentiful parking. The owners leave a good welcome pack to start you off as there is no ’popping out’ to the shops from here!

Sitting Room: this cosy beamed room has large wood burning stove in the traditional inglenook fireplace (logs provided), comfortable leather sofas, easy chair, Sky digibox TV, DVD player, CD player and WiFi. Some films, books and games are supplied for guests and pay phone available.  A stable door leads from the sitting room to the conservatory

Conservatory: with superb views, slate floors and comfortable furniture.

Kitchen Diner: this spacious room has a tiled floor with a wooden dining table and chairs. The fitted kitchen includes a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer and electric cooker. It is well equipped with everything you need to cater for yourselves should you wish.

On the first floor are three beamed bedrooms

Bedroom 1: a lovely double with TV/DVD and an en suite shower room with WC and basin.

Bedroom 2: a twin room.

Bedroom 3: another double room.

Bathroom: is tiled, with a bath with a hand shower attachment, WC and basin.

Outside: the cottage has a slate patio with picnic tables and brick barbecue, in fenced and gated grounds. Stunning panoramic views of the surrounding hills from the back garden. There is a garden bench at the front to take advantage of the countryside views. Use of barn for mountain bike storage, etc.

The location of this cottage is very special in a little-known area of the Snowdonia National Park. Once here you may find you don't want to move much, just exploring what is on your doorstep. Should you decide to venture out the nearest town of Dolgellau is a traditional market town and has a good selection of shops, cafes and pubs. An amazing drive over a remote mountain road takes you to the town and lake at Bala for water sports and boat hire on Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) and the little steam Railway at Llanuwchlyn. There are a network of paths and bridleways to explore and quiet roads for cyclists. For mountain bikers you are located close the trail centre at the Coed Y Brenin, which also has a good cafe, forest walking trails, orienteering courses and a good children's play area and discovery trails. The family bike trail at Traswsfynydd is also a short drive away. Day trips could be taken to the nearest beach resorts at Porthmadog and Harlech and the Italianate village at Portmeirion,

Electricity and heating included

Bed linen and towels provided

Cot and high chair available by arrangement

Reviews

We loved everything about this property. I have regular breaks in this kind of accommodation, but by far this was the best.

Mrs Angela G,

Had a wonderful time during New Years in this beautiful cottage. The views from the sun room are fabulous to gaze at, and the isolation has allowed us to have a very relaxed time. Being accompanied by the sheep has made out stay way more interesting! The cottage is well equipped and maintained, and we had all the facilities that we required provided for us. The owner was very friendly and welcoming! We thank you for letting us stay in this fascinating and cosy place, will definitely visit again soon!

Mr Alex P,

We had the most wonderful Christmas break! It was so peaceful, quiet and beautiful! The cottage is so cosy and welcoming. We absolutely loved every second here. We hope to come back again next year. Thank you for the wine and mince pies.

Mr Rangel K,

Have stayed many times here over the last 10 years or so. Will be back.

Mr D B,

Had a wonderful time in your beautiful cottage. It was so peaceful and relaxing. A truly magical place!

Mrs Diane T,

We were trying to remember ... we think this might be our 6th or 7th visit here. Thank you once again - and we didn't get snowed in this time! Hooray!

Mr Stuart F,

The weather was not kind to us, but the cottage was delightful and everything works! Marvellous views and splendid isolation. One of the best cottages I have come across - will recommend to friends. The owners are doing a great job. Thank you.

Mr Maurice D,

Thank you! Your place is incredible - we absolutely loved it here. The views from the sun room are to die for and we had the most relaxing time. We will be back!

Ms Molly S,

We love Cwm Hesgen! We had such a peaceful time in this beautiful location - watching the house martins and buzzards, enjoying 'our' stream, wading through the moss in the forest up the hill opposite, and using it as a base to explore the national park. Thank you so much. We'll be back!

Mrs Sara D,

Thank you! Lovely and quiet place! Shep and fields all around, superb landscape. We have to come back here one time again.

Mr Dan S,

The location was the best yet. We could not fault anything. I would like to say that your staff are fantastic, always happy to help and arrange payment plans to make holidaying possible. I highly recommend Wales cottage holidays. Stress free and always a pleasure to book through. Already booked for next yrs holiday through you. Thank you.

Emily G,

Highly recommended hide away holiday cottage. Very well equipped and comfortable. Loved the situation and the sheer peace. Owners very pleasant and helpful yet gave me complete privacy. Garden and conservatory make it an all year round pleasure. Kitchen very well equipped.

Mrs Lynda R,

We have loved staying in this beautiful, remote spot. The weather has been good to us apart from the torrential downpour on Thursday evening. We felt very sorry for the soggy sheep!

Mr S J,

Beautiful setting. We love the isolation. Wish we could live here! We will be back again.

Previous Customer,

A proper get away from it all location, excellent walks from the door and stunning countryside to explore.

Mrs Kathryn C,

Another fabulous year at this gorgeous cottage. We will be back again next year!

Previous Customer,

Thanks for this beautiful cottage. It's well maintained and the fact that it's set with all the tiniest possible requirements impressed us all. The best part about this cottage is the conservatory which has this beautiful view.

Mr Lokesh D,

What a fabulous location! Remote, peaceful, good place to get away from it all. Cottage cosy, warm, everything at hand. Reluctant to leave. Big thank you to the owners.

Mr Neil D,

Thank you for an amazing cottage, this is the best we've stayed at! So many places to explore! Lovely and cosy! Will definitely be back!

Miss Lucy I,

I really enjoyed my stay in this cosy and beautiful cottage. When we arrived, the cottage was warm and ready to enjoy. We loved the idea that it was in the middle of nowhere away from London's bustle, surrounded by sheep and welsh hills. Enjoyed spending evenings by fireplace, the days exploring area whether by car or on foot. I couldn't have asked for a better Christmas with my fiancee and future mother-in-law. We would definitely like to come back one day. Thank you!
