Description

Ty’n Cellar Farm is an historic group of farm buildings, some dating back to the medieval period, once forming part of the Margam Abbey estate. The owners run a B&B from the farmhouse and barn, with the surrounding buildings sympathetically converted into a group of self-catering holiday cottages, situated around the farmyard. The Lodge is a more recent building, dating from the 1970s but still in keeping with the adjacent properties, attached to the rear of the owners’ farmhouse, with its own small, enclosed lawned garden.

Ground Floor:

Entrance Hall: with stairs rising to the first floor

Cloakroom: WC and basin in vanity unit

Kitchen Diner: well-fitted kitchen with farmhouse dark-oak type units, built-in eye-level double oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine; dining area with circular table and four chairs, dual-aspect windows

Sitting Room: with feature stone wall, large leather sofa, armchair, Freesat TV, patio doors to the garden

First Floor: rooms have ceilings sloping to the sides, but good headroom

Bedroom 1: with single bed

Bedroom 2: with king size bed

Bedroom 3: with single bed

Shower Room: with dual-headed shower in large cubicle, WC and basin

Outside: lawned garden, with bench to the front; access to large shared paddock area with picnic benches, brick-built barbecue, yurt

Parking: in shared, gravelled car park off the farmyard

The owners occasionally run workshops, meditation courses, wedding blessings etc in the small meeting hall opposite. They keep free range chickens, ducks and geese in the adjacent paddocks, so pets are not accepted in the cottages, but the owners do have two docile collie dogs and a cat. Animal lovers, nature lovers and birdwatchers will also enjoy the Kenfig National Nature Reserve, just minutes from the cottage.

Ty’n Cellar Farm properties are conveniently situated just off the M4, yet just 1.5 miles from the entrance to Margam Country Park with its castle, museum and orangery, as well as the Go Ape visitor attraction for more adventurous and energetic guests! The coast at Porthcawl is 5 miles, with an excellent range of traditional seaside activities and attractions; the long, sandy beach of Aberavon is 8 miles away. This is also a good location for a visit to Wales’ two primary cities: Swansea, 14 miles, with its many museums and galleries clustered around the Marina; Cardiff and Cardiff Bay, with Cathedrals, Stadia, Waterfront, museums and galleries including the Doctor Who exhibition, Cardiff Millennium Centre and much more. Excellent walking and mountain biking in the Afan Forest Park, 10 miles, along with walking trails and waterfalls in the Swansea Valley and the southern Brecon Beacons National Park, all within 30 miles.
