Description

The Granary is on the first and second floors of this carthouse and grain store, a detached stone property dating back to the 16th century, on the yard of Ty’n Cellar Farm. The cottage, approached via the original external granary steps, is situated above the office and storage area of the owners’ B&B and holiday cottage business. There are seven cottages on site altogether, offering a range of accommodation for couples, families or groups wishing to holiday together. There are also two small meeting rooms on site, a shared laundry room and a paddock. The Farm is in an ideal location, providing easy access to a wide range of activities and attractions of South Wales, including the popular seaside town of Porthcawl, the cities of Swansea, 15 miles, and Cardiff, 29 miles. There are also good local facilities in the nearby villages of North Cornelly (1 mile) and Pyle, with Margam Country Park just 1.5 miles away.

The Granary has full central heating and hot water provided by a biomass boiler. WiFi is also available. The second floor bedrooms have attractively beamed, sloping ceilings, but with good headroom.

Open Plan Living Room: a spacious room on the first floor, with large sofa and armchair, Freeview TV, WiFi; the dining table has three chairs and upholstered Victorian chapel pew.

Kitchen Area: to one side of the living room with fitted units, gas cooker, extractor hood, microwave, fridge with 3* freezer box.

Family Shower Room: also on the first floor, with rainhead shower in cubicle, WC and basin.

Stairs rise from the hallway to the second floor:

Bedroom 1: with zip and link bed – can be super king size, or twin if preferred.

Bedroom 2: also with zip and link bed, super king size or twin.

Outside: A shared laundry room on site has a washing machine. A large, shared paddock with yurt, picnic benches and brick built barbecue provides a large area for all guests to relax. Another paddock is home to the owners’ free range hens, ducks and geese.

Parking: unloading is permitted directly adjacent to the granary steps; shared gravelled parking area on site.

Margam Castle, Orangery, Museum and the Go Ape treetop adventure trail, all found at Margam Country Park (the entrance is just 1.5 miles from the cottage) provides attractions and activities for all ages and interests. The Kenfig National Nature Reserve, of interest to nature lovers of all kinds, is just a stone's throw from the property. Many of the stunning beaches of South Wales are within easy reach, including Porthcawl, 5 miles, Aberavon, 6.5 miles, Ogmore-by-Sea, Southerndown and Dunraven Bay 11-12 miles. Mountain bikers can enjoy the trails of Afan Forest, 10 miles away, and the Swansea Valley provides many attractive walks, woodlands and waterfalls.
