Sitting within the breathtaking countryside of the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons) is this spacious rural retreat for large families and groups of friends. The charming little town of Crickhowell, which is a proud member of Totally Locally, is 6 miles away, and you’ll also be within easy reach of Brecon, Hay-on-Wye, and Abergavenny (all within 16 miles). In the evenings, gather at the pretty, undercover dining area by the stream for a dinner to remember.

The stone barn conversion, set on a working farm, is full of original features and is decorated in calm, neutral tones. A large kitchen/diner with a tiled floor and exposed beams provides a memorable setting for dinner parties and special occasions, with a fully fitted kitchen, large table to seat everyone, and comfortable sofa overlooking the garden. After dinner, move into the cosy lounge, featuring a wood burner and underfloor heating. Relax here on the plump sofas to watch a film on the SkyTV. Two staircases lead upstairs, with the first taking you to a king-size bedroom with a Jack and Jill-style bathroom and a bunk bedroom. The second staircase leads to two double bedrooms and a stylish shower room. Outside, the enclosed garden provides a choice of areas for al fresco entertaining. Enjoy family BBQs on the sunny patio, challenge each other to a table tennis match, play games on the lawn, or gather at the undercover dining area for memorable mealtimes overlooking the water. There’s also a garden room where you can chill out with a book, watch the 50" Smart TV/DVD, or play table football (this room doubles up as an additional sleeping area, with two pull-out beds).

The historic town of Abergavenny is 11.5 miles away and is known for its wonderful selection of cafes and restaurants. It’s also a great place to pick up local produce for your supper, thanks to the regular markets. Walks from Abergavenny include the towpath of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal and Sugar Loaf Mountain. History enthusiasts will enjoy a visit to the atmospheric ruins of LLanthony Priory, 21 miles away, or for those interested in water sports, a trip to Llangorse Lake (9.5 miles) is a must.

Loved our stay at the Wern Barn. Pleased with the games room and garden for dogs. Great facilities in the kitchen. Great location. Learnt to read the walk guides better after a very long wrong and unnecessary trek round a lake. Abergavenny was a nice town and Hay-on-Wye delightful. The local walk around Crickhowell was good, the canals and River UsRead morek , then up into the mountains of Brecon. So much to see and even the weather wasnt too bad. Hide

This is a spacious and comfortable property. The kitchen is lovely and very well equipped. The garden room was useful as an additional space. Also the two outdoor seating areas. The enclosed garden was perfect for our very active toddler and dog. We loved the horses.

Lovely barn conversion with plenty of space for a large party. Attractive to families with children but youngsters would need supervision due to stream and animals. Easy access to Crickhowell and plenty of countryside to explore. Several pubs/restaurants within reach, supermarkets rather sparse but accessible in Brecon or Abergavenny. A lovely, comfortable and well-stocked holiday cottage. Great to be in the middle of a working farm with, horses and sheep. Our dog immediately decided it was a farm dog and wanted to join the very friendly farm dogs. Lovely walks and a beautiful stream, great pub in walking distance. The farm is really well positioned for access to Crickhowell/HayRead more/Brecon and all the activities at Llangorse lake. One really minor issue is that there is a bit of traffic noise but great for a family break. Hide

Clean, well equipped (inc. provisions for young children e.g. cutlery, toys, potty seat), cosy and warm, easy to find location with parking for 2-3 cars, but most importantly very welcoming host who were approachable and kind. Highly recommended for families and would stay again.
