This quaint whitewashed cottage is hidden within Staunton's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by rolling countryside and waymarked walking routes. This picturesque Grade II-listed holiday home is ideal for a family of four to relax and spend quality time in the cottage's two gorgeous gardens.

Enter through the mint-green front door and into this chocolate box cottage. It is here you will be met with calming pale hues, timeless antiques and contemporary accents that seamlessly combine for a memorable stay. The kitchen/diner is simply brimming with character and plays host to a fantastic selection of equipment, to keep even your hungriest guests topped up. Gather around the table for a cosy evening with family or friends as you sip glasses of bubbles and tuck into nibbles. The lounge is comfortable and is fabulous for nights in front of a movie on the Smart TV. If it's balmy, throw open the French doors onto the private courtyard, while on chillier nights, hunker down with the heat from the wood burner and nurse a cup of cocoa. When it's time for bed, steep stairs lead to rooms fit for a king, including a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room, and served by a well-appointed bathroom with a claw-foot bath, a lavish four-poster double room. Linger over breakfast in one of two enclosed cottage gardens and enjoy the sunshine while the children bounce around the lawn.

Spend days rock climbing and canoeing at Symonds Yat (9 miles) and walking stretches of the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail (5 miles) fuelled by picnic supplies found in Coleford's handy shops. Take to the skies with a session of high ropes at Mallards Pike (8 miles) or explore the Forest of Dean on two wheels as you zoom in and out of the mountain biking routes.

  • 2 bedrooms – 1 double, four-poster bed, 1 double bed
  • 2 bathrooms – 1 bathroom with claw-foot bath and WC, 1 en-suite shower room with WC

  • 2 gardens with outdoor seating
  • Off-road parking for 2 cars
  • Pub 5 minute walk, shop 2 miles
  • Sleeps 4 + 2 (additional day bed)

We have stayed in many cottages over the years, and Church Farm is probably the best overall in terms of character, comfort, facilities and attention to detail by the owners. It is well located as a base from which to explore the area, and the village possesses a nice pub which serves good meals. What's not to like?!!
