Gather round a glowing fire pit and listen to the sound of the river passing by when you stay at this inviting cottage in Cwmgiedd. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom hideaway, which offers dog-friendly accommodation, is situated on the edge of beautiful Bannau Brycheiniog, also known as the Brecon Beacons National Park. The delightful retreat has a winter-warming wood burner inside and a gorgeous garden leading down to the river. It is 0.5 miles from Ystradgynlais, with its shops and eateries, and 15 miles from the bustling city of Swansea.

Step inside and find yourselves in a welcoming lounge. This is the perfect place to relax together beside the crackling wood burner during the chillier months. Stroll on through to the snug to watch a movie on the Smart TV. Play some music in here too and open the French doors on to the garden. Head through to the kitchen/diner to whip up tasty meals for your friends or family with the delicious produce you have sourced on your excursions. When you are ready to turn in for the night, climb the stairs up to the first floor of the cottage, where a twin and a double bedroom are situated. The family bathroom is also here. A utility room and another WC can be accessed from outside. Make the most of the garden on sunny days. Dine outside, enjoy the warmth of the fire pit and keep an eye on children and pets by the flowing water.

Venture into Bannau Brycheiniog to follow fabulous footpaths, climb mountains and walk beside rivers and waterfalls. Spend an afternoon at the National Showcaves Centre for Wales, 6.5 miles away, where you can explore the caverns. Visit impressive Castell Carreg Cennen, 14.5 miles away, which is thought to date back to the 12th century.

What a find?! We loved our stay with three dogs plus two granddaughters and couldnt believe how well situated the cottage was. We have never stayed anywhere that has been SO friendly! All the neighbours were brilliantly helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. The owner was wonderful with her communication too. Firstly I want to confirm that the bed must have been changed and does not squeak!! This is such a beautiful cottage and a perfect base to explore south Wales, the river in the garden is magical! 5 min drive to Tesco with other supermarkets not too far away. Loaf and Chameleon Cafe in the nearby town were lovely. The kitchen is very well kitted outRead more for home dinners. We rarely managed to park right outside the cottage but always managed to park somewhere on the road. Very comfortable and cosy! Hide

Super cottage that accommodated 3 dogs and three adults. Fabulous garden that is securely fenced in. Its lovely to have a coffee next to the babbling brook at the end of the garden. Great location if you have a car. Would highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay in this gorgeous and cosy cottage. The location was ideal for exploring, the neighbours all super friendly, and the cottage itself was so clean and welcoming. There was no problem parking on the road to the front, and the kids enjoyed paddling in the stream to the rear. We'd definitely recommend!

Lovely cosy cottage. Configured with an open space for chatting and a snug with the tv in (note we were Really snug when watching tv). Really well equipped kitchen. Comfy bedrooms. Extremely squeaky beds! Good comms with the owner. The town was nice. Loaf cafe particularly good.

Great little cottage, minus the crazy noisy bed. Garden was brilliant for chilling and entertaining the dog, who loved going in the river when it was calm water levels. Had everything we needed and was nice and relaxing. Street parking wasn't an issue, could always park nearby. Good location for a variety of different activities.

Had a lovely week staying here. Great location with walks right from the door. The cottage is well equipped and very homely. The dogs loved the enclosed garden, also the stream at the bottom of the garden was great for the dogs after a long day walking.
