Gather round a glowing fire pit and listen to the sound of the river passing by when you stay at this inviting cottage in Cwmgiedd. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom hideaway, which offers dog-friendly accommodation, is situated on the edge of beautiful Bannau Brycheiniog, also known as the Brecon Beacons National Park. The delightful retreat has a winter-warming wood burner inside and a gorgeous garden leading down to the river. It is 0.5 miles from Ystradgynlais, with its shops and eateries, and 15 miles from the bustling city of Swansea.

Step inside and find yourselves in a welcoming lounge. This is the perfect place to relax together beside the crackling wood burner during the chillier months. Stroll on through to the snug to watch a movie on the Smart TV. Play some music in here too and open the French doors on to the garden. Head through to the kitchen/diner to whip up tasty meals for your friends or family with the delicious produce you have sourced on your excursions. When you are ready to turn in for the night, climb the stairs up to the first floor of the cottage, where a twin and a double bedroom are situated. The family bathroom is also here. A utility room and another WC can be accessed from outside. Make the most of the garden on sunny days. Dine outside, enjoy the warmth of the fire pit and keep an eye on children and pets by the flowing water.

Venture into Bannau Brycheiniog to follow fabulous footpaths, climb mountains and walk beside rivers and waterfalls. Spend an afternoon at the National Showcaves Centre for Wales, 6.5 miles away, where you can explore the caverns. Visit impressive Castell Carreg Cennen, 14.5 miles away, which is thought to date back to the 12th century.

Lovely little cottage well equipped with everything you need. The river at the bottom of the garden is a gem and was fascinating to watch it change dramatically when it rained. Neighbours are very friendly and the Penybont Inn was great for a pint and dog friendly. Great location for walks and exploring. Highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our holiday. The cottage was very clean, fresh and comfortable and we loved the garden and river at the back. It was cosy and tastefully decorated to a high standard. There are lots of places to walk in Cwmgiedd and further away there is the Mumbles pier and The Gower Coast. Thank you for a magical stay.
