Indulge in a delightful stay in this exquisite hideaway in a leafy valley in the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Explore the picturesque borderlands of Wales and England from the characterful cottage which has a pretty garden for summer days and a wood burner for winter evenings. Sleeping six guests, and welcoming dogs too, the four-bedroom hideaway is situated in Lydbrook, 9.5 miles from Monmouth and 7 miles from Ross-on-Wye.
Climb stone steps to enter and find rooms with a friendly, comfortable appeal. Unpack any fresh provisions in the kitchen/diner and make a cup of tea to enjoy at the table while you consider what to rustle up for dinner. Head through to the lounge to unwind on the comfortable seating. Light the wood burner in here or throw open the doors and unwind in the porch area quietly as you take your verdant surroundings. Gather around the table in the dining room for celebratory meals together every evening. One of the two family bathrooms is also downstairs. The other is on the first floor, together with the bedrooms. These include a king-size, a double, a twin that is suitable for children only and a small double for one person. Make the most of the pretty garden at this cottage: sizzle supper on the BBQ in the summer, dine at the wooden table and bask in the sunshine on the terrace on warm afternoons.
Head off on foot or by bicycle to explore the surrounding area. Venture 6 miles to Symonds Yat to climb up to Yat Rock to take in the far-reaching views or to hire canoes and paddle out on the River Wye. Plan a day out to Monmouth to browse in the shops, see the castle and perhaps follow a section of the Offa’s Dyke Path.
