A truly delightful home with a rustic look and feel; this accommodation is a Welsh paradise for nature-loving couples and small families. It’s set in the sleepy hamlet of Bronydd, just 2.5 miles from the vibrant market town of Hay-on-Wye, known for its second-hand bookshops and annual literary festival. A perfect location for hikers, it’s just 500 metres from the Offa's Dyke footpath, a 177-mile trail loosely following the England-Wales border.
With its stylish black and white facade nestled within pretty trees and greenery, this lovely home makes an impression from the get-go. The interior is just as elegant, with limestone-plastered walls, stone floors, wooden joists, and exposed ceiling beams. In the kitchen, warmed by an Aga during the cooler months, prepare family feasts while fellow guests perch at the breakfast bar with a pre-dinner drink. The inviting lounge is decorated in warm hues, and with its wood burner, flagstone floors and underfloor heating, creates the perfect spot for relaxation after busy days in the fresh air. When day turns to night, choose from a sumptuous super-king-size bedroom that can be converted to a twin room on request, as well as a king-size room. A well-appointed family bathroom with a free-standing, roll-top bath completes the interior. You’ll have a gorgeous outdoor space, too, featuring a raised terrace with a BBQ and stunning views of the Wye Valley, Hay Bluff, and Twmpa. The well-established gardens feature stocked borders and a babbling brook.
To reach Hay-on-Wye on foot, join the Offa's Dyke footpath and follow the trail through fields and along the scenic River Wye. Once in Hay, enjoy a charming mix of quirky shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, and a weekly farmers market (Thursdays). The area around Twmpa (8 miles) offers more challenging hikes along the Hatterrall Ridge, or head to the Begwyns (6.5 miles) to explore 1,200 acres of National Trust land.
