Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life in this rural retreat for two in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons). Enjoy romantic, country walks from your doorstep, before heading into the charming local village of Sennybridge (3 miles) to refuel in one of the traditional Welsh pubs. Further afield, the market town of Brecon, with its fantastic range of shops and eateries, is 14 miles away.
The holiday home has been lovingly converted from a 200-year-old barn. A step down leads to the bright, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which is decorated in a contemporary style and enjoys tranquil views of the surrounding countryside. Unwind here, after a long walk, reading a book or watching a film on the TV/DVD. The compact kitchen area has been carefully designed to include everything needed to whip up a tasty dinner for two, which can be enjoyed at the cute dining table. The stylish double bedroom, with an en-suite shower room, is upstairs. Outside, soak up the sunshine on the patio, where you’ll find furniture and a BBQ for al fresco dining. You’re also invited to explore the 220-acre farm surrounding the property. The outhouse has a small freezer, and can also be used for storing bikes and outdoor gear.
You’ll find plenty to see and do in the Georgian town of Brecon. After a potter around its independent shops, boutiques, and galleries, grab a bite to eat in one of the many cafes or restaurants. The Theatr Brycheiniog has a busy calendar of performances and events throughout the year, and history enthusiasts can learn about the town’s rich military heritage in the Royal Welsh Museum. Some beautiful walks pass through the town, including the Taff Trail and the towpath of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.
