The period cottage is located in the quaint village of Bwlch, deep in the heart of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park (Brecon Beacons). The property sleeps three guests and makes a great base for couples and small families looking to rest and recharge in breathtaking surroundings. Stride out from the cottage to enjoy walks in the Black Mountains and through the Usk Valley, before heading into Crickhowell (6 miles) to refuel in a friendly pub or cosy cafe.
The 17th-century property is decorated and furnished in a traditional style, to complement the cottage’s original features. After a long walk, sink into the sofa or curl up in the armchair in the lounge to watch TV or read a book in the warmth of the wood burner-effect electric fire. From here, head through to the kitchen/diner, where you can rustle up hearty meals to enjoy together at the wooden dining table. A contemporary bathroom completes the ground floor. Upstairs, there’s a family bedroom with a double and a single bed, along with a separate single bedroom. Both bedrooms enjoy relaxing views across the Usk Valley. To the front of the cottage is a small patio where you can sip a sundowner or share a BBQ supper in the summer months.
The pretty town of Crickhowell has a good range of shops and eateries to explore, as does the Georgian market town of Brecon (8.5 miles). Brecon is also home to the famous Theatr Brycheiniog, so be sure to check the calendar of events to see what is on during your stay. Llangorse Lake is just 5 miles away and is a must for water sports enthusiasts, with sailing, windsurfing and paddleboarding on offer. For those interested in local history, head to the fascinating Tretower Court and Castle (3.5 miles).
