Soak up the local history at the ruins of the 13th-century castle, or climb to the summit of Crug Hywel to admire the Iron Age hillfort and take in the panoramic views. Other walks in and around the town include the long-distance Beacon’s Way and a pretty route following the banks of the River Usk. Nearby days out include Llanthony Priory, Tretower Court and Castle, and the foodie town of Abergavenny (all within 12 miles).
