Bask in the glorious heat of a roaring wood burner as you take in the views out over the rolling Welsh countryside. This one-bedroom retreat nestles in the undulating rural surroundings of Bannau Brycheiniog, also known as the Brecon Beacons National Park. Just over 1 mile from Crickhowell, it sleeps two guests and welcomes a four-legged friend as well. It is a perfect romantic hideaway for couples who savour the great outdoors.
Wander inside to find the stone cottage has a barn-style interior with a gorgeous, open-plan lounge/kitchen/kitchen, featuring a beamed and vaulted ceiling. Banks of windows pull the views right in, making this the ideal place to unwind together. Light the wood burner on autumnal days, whip up delicious dinners for two in the kitchen, then dine in style at the table. Grab a bottle of wine from the fridge then cuddle up on the soft seating in front of your favourite programmes on TV. When you are ready to turn in for the night, amble through to the double bedroom, which has an en-suite shower room. Have breakfast and morning coffee out on your private patio before heading off on your next adventure. Light the BBQ out here on balmy evenings.
Head into Crickhowell to potter in the colourful independent shops, stock up on local produce and dine out in pubs and cafes. Abergavenny, 7.5 miles away, is also a fabulous destination for anyone eager to sample the local Welsh produce. Explore the picturesque Usk Valley on foot or by bicycle. Walk 2 miles to see the medieval fortified manor house of Tretower Court or venture 8 miles to climb the scenic Sugar Loaf Mountain. Llangorse Lake, 8 miles away, is another great place to walk and cycle, as well as to try your hand at water sports.
