This postcard-pretty cottage is charming both inside and out and offers versatile sleeping accommodation. Located in the heart of lovely Llangynidr, it’s perfectly placed for couples or small families to enjoy walks from the front door, adventurous days out in the national park and cosy evenings in the local pub.
Beautifully decorated throughout, this cosy holiday home is a welcoming space in which to recharge. Hang your coats in the porch and enter the delightful lounge, where comfortable seating is gathered around a fireplace with a wood burner. Stretch out in here with a movie on the Smart TV, a book or a board game, and maybe send the little ones into the adjacent snug where there’s a TV and a Wii. Here there’s also a futon for an additional two guests. The compact kitchen is well designed with everything you’ll need to create stress-free meals, and the separate dining room is another beautiful space with a rustic/modern feel. At bedtime, take the cottage-style stairs up to the first floor where, on the landing, you’ll find a 2’6” daybed. The two bedrooms are a king-size and a small double – the latter with a 4’ bed and a low ceiling on one side. They share a bathroom which boasts a roll-top bath and separate shower. Outside, you have a courtyard with seating for relaxing in the sun and an enclosed garden with a summerhouse and a BBQ. There’s even a vegetable garden where you can pick your own.
Llangynidr offers shops, pub, a tea room and a restaurant, and scenic walks or bike rides along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. Anyone keen on fishing will want to try their luck on the River Usk, while lovers of water sports should head to Llangorse Lake, 7 miles, for rowing, sailing and waterskiing.
