It’s in Talybont-on-Usk, a picturesque village that lies on both the Caerfanell River and the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. You’ll be in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park and surrounded by luscious natural beauty, with opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and wild swimming nearby. This characterful home has space for four over two bedrooms, so is wonderful for one or two couples, or a small family.

Quirky, charming and elegant, this traditional home has been decorated with the utmost care and attention – from the jazz posters to the patterned wallpaper and vintage furniture. Details like wood panelling, ornate lamps and gilded picture frames all contribute to the allure. The kitchen is equipped with modern appliances including a coffee machine for your morning brew. Cook up tasty family meals and tuck into them either in the kitchen, or in the spacious lounge, where you can lap up peaceful Usk Valley views from the antique dining table. The lounge is a cosy retreat, with plush sofas, a Freeview TV and an impressive stone fireplace housing a wood burner – lovely for those chilly Welsh nights. Outside, a pretty veranda, embellished with climbing plants and tubs, presents the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine on mild evenings.

The village serves as a hub of local life with welcoming pubs, shops, an art gallery and a Post Office, all within 0.5 miles. Take leisurely strolls along the Monmouthshire to Brecon canal, which runs through the village, and admire beautifully painted narrow boats. Keen hikers will love the variety of trails nearby, with the Talybont Reservoir (3 miles) a lovely spot to start your exploration. Water sports aficionados will be keen to check out Llangorse Lake (7.5 miles) for sailing and windsurfing. Llangynidr Falls (3.5 miles) is a lovely wild swimming spot – brace yourself for a chilly dip!

Had a lovely welcome with the fire lit, and home-made mince pies. Very friendly owner who welcomed us. Spacious and warm on a cold weekend outside. Super king-sized bed and a great location for the village, pub and shop.

We had a really brilliant time at The Rest. Such a lovely house in beautiful surroundings and very well equipped. The property is located by a canal and there is a lovely walk to the 2 pubs in the village. There are lots of interesting places to visit nearby. The Big Pit is well worth going to.
