A beautiful home perched on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, perfect for a group holiday in a scenic and convenient spot. It’s in Brecon, a historic market town with plenty of shops, excellent eateries and notable attractions like the Regimental Museum of the Royal Welsh, Theatr Brycheiniog (both around 0.5 miles) and the 11th-century cathedral (1 mile). This charming dwelling has space for up to ten guests over six bedrooms, and two dogs are welcome to join you.
This light-filled home has a neutral decor of creams, whites and other pale shades, and artwork on the wall to make you feel at home. You’ll have plenty of room for your group to spread out, with two cosy lounges – the first has ample seating and a TV for film nights, while the second, with its traditional wood burner, is ideal for curling up with a good book. Cook up holiday feasts in the bright and stylish kitchen/diner, which has a long table overlooking the garden. The kitchen's quarry-tiled floor and walk-in pantry add a touch of rustic charm. Outside, the lovely wraparound garden includes a lawn where children can play and a terrace with garden furniture so you can eat outdoors. A BBQ is on hand for those warm-weather sizzle fests.
Locally, take pretty walks along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal (350 metres) or catch a film at Brecon’s lovely 1930s-style cinema. The surrounding national park is excellent for outdoorsy activities like canoeing, pony trekking and rock climbing. Visit Llangorse Lake (6 miles) for water sports like sailing and paddleboarding. For a dose of history, Talgarth Mill makes for an educational day out. Hikers will be keen to head up Pen y Fan (6.5 miles), the highest peak in South Wales.
