Settle in for a superb stay at this inviting barn in the Shropshire Hills, close to the border with Wales. Sleeping four guests, the two-bedroom retreat nestles on an organic farm in the scenic Clun Valley. Set in 150 acres and with a private garden with a gate leading down to the river, it is perfect for a small family or couples.
Step inside to find airy accommodation with underfloor heating, plus an abundance of wood, revealed stonework and many stylish, contemporary features. Shuffle off your walking boots in the utility room, where there is a separate WC, and amble on through to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Light the wood burner in here on chilly days or pull the glass doors to the garden open when it is warm. Find your favourite boxset on the Smart TV or listen to music via the Bluetooth speaker in the chic kitchen area as you whip up the next delicious, home-cooked meal. Dine together inside or out, depending on the weather. As day turns to night, climb the open-tread staircase up to the first floor of the barn. Wake up to glorious views from the sumptuous super-king-size bedroom, which has an en-suite bathroom and zip-and-link beds, and can also be set up as a twin if discussed in advance, or the airy king-size with en-suite shower room. Soak up the sunshine and the scenery from the patio. Light the BBQ here too and play games with the children on the lawn.
Stride straight out from the barn on fabulous walks or cycle rides. Venture 9.5 miles to Knighton in Wales to visit the Offa’s Dyke Centre. Here you can also pick up the long-distance footpath that follows much of the border between Wales and England.
