Escape to this beautiful stone holiday home in South Wales and take in views across the countryside to the coast. The former stable and blacksmith’s forge at Southerndown, 1.5 miles from Ogmore-by-Sea, has been beautifully converted and now sleeps six guests across two bedrooms. Offering dog-friendly accommodation, it sits in fabulous gardens, complete with a hot tub, children’s play area and fire pit. A 0.5-mile footpath opposite leads down to the beach.

Enter the former stable section to find enticing accommodation that balances rustic charm with contemporary style. At ground-floor level discover a large family bedroom, with two 4’ double beds. Climb the stairs to the first floor to emerge in a spacious lounge/kitchen/diner that looks out towards the sea. Find a good film on the Smart TV in here, play games and rustle up delicious meals for everyone to enjoy at the table. There is also a snug/study on this floor where family members can savour a few quiet moments. A family shower room and utility room are also at this level. The accommodation within the former forge has its own entrance. Enter to find a bedroom furnished with a king-size bed and set of bunks for children under 14. The room has a Smart TV, en-suite shower room and access to the garden. Spill outside to make the most of the opportunities for outdoor living at this property. Relax in the seating areas, cook on the BBQ and soak in the hot tub after your trips out.

Spend time in fashionable Cowbridge, 9 miles away, pottering in the shops and having afternoon tea in an elegant eatery. Visit the designer outlet in Bridgend, 7 miles away. Experienced hikers might like to walk 1.5 miles out along the coast at low tide to see the waterfall at Cwm Mawr.
