This superbly converted and furnished chapel in the heart of the magnificent Snowdonia National Park sleeps eight guests and welcomes up to three canine pets. Spacious, airy and packed with original period features, it is a perfect base for a holiday shared with families or friends. Set in the peaceful village of Llanelltyd, the property is just a mile from historic Dolgellau, a market town where you’ll find shops, pubs and eateries. This is great walking and cycling country, and the golden beach at Barmouth is within 8 miles.
The original chapel doors open into an impressive, double-height living area. Filled with light from the huge window, this beautiful space features exposed beams and stonework. Comfortable leather sofas sit before a large wood burner, perfect for chilly nights, while the splendid kitchen has ample room for chats around a stylish dining table. The chapel has two sumptuous king-size bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms – one on the ground floor and the other upstairs. A fine period staircase leads to a mezzanine floor with a family bathroom, two further delightful bedrooms, a double and a twin, and the aforementioned second king-size. Outside is an enclosed garden with outdoor furniture and a BBQ.
Take a cycle ride down the wonderfully scenic Mawddach Trail. The 9-mile route follows an old railway track from Dolgellau (where you can hire a bike) and runs along the Mawddach Estuary to the coast at Barmouth. Discover lovely woodland walks, the dramatic Gain Waterfall and cycle trails for all abilities in the Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park (4.5 miles). There’s also bike hire, a visitors' centre and a cafe. Enjoy more glorious views on a stroll down the 1-mile promenade at Barmouth Beach, and from the pedestrian bridge across the estuary to Fairbourne.
